I imagine the controllers are going to get battered after a while. Not sure if it is a true story but I already heard of people flinging them through their TV sets by accident :lol:

I'm sure I can find some in local stores.  I bought 4 just 2 weeks ago and sold them on ebay.  I can post them on the site if you don't mind a slight markup.  We ship worldwide.

Those stories you've heard about are about ignorant people and attention seekers.  No person with half of a brain would throw a controller through a television.  Americans in particular love and generate sensationalism like that.  Pity, because those stories do alter people's perceptions who have never even seen/used a Wii.  I know many a non-gamer who, when I mention the Wii, heard that the controllers were just plain broken.  Now when the whole selling point of the system is the revolutionary new controller, you can see how John Q. Public would avoid the Wii.  I wouldn't be suprised if Sony's marketing department had something to do with those stories.
