From tape to hard disk - H2O2 Front plate trial
From tape to hard disk - H2O2 Front plate trial

Description: On rkauer's suggestion to find a whiter front plate for the SCSI enclosure (Original can be seen here), I decided to try treating the front plate with hydrogen peroxide as recently discussed here on Aorg.

I used "Weller Welloxon Perfect Creme Developer 12%" as it was the strongest H2O2 containing product that I could borrow for the test. A couple of days later in bright sunshine, and you can see the results for yourself ;-)

It's worked so well I could really do with doing the whole case with H2O2 :-D Problem is then the front wouldn't match the paintwork

PS. Note the wires going to the front of the HDD - The HDD activity LED is now a 10mm white LED positioned just below the C= - You can just see the top edge of it in the window.
I've also swapped out the old fan from the enclosure as it was making more noise than the "noisy" HDD! (An attempt to disassemble and fix the fan showed that some shaft spacers had disintegrated).

Wow. Now it looks a lot better!

Thanks Rich for the kind words.

BTW: that package didn't show 'till now!
