I actually used my Amiga yesterday
« on: October 20, 2003, 12:53:13 PM »
It was quite enjoyable too.

The sad thing is that these days I mostly use my x86/Linux box, and almost never use my Amiga. Even though for years I have considered myself to be a hard core Amiga user.

Whereas years ago I would use my Amiga every day, now It's lucky to be switched on once every week. That's sad.

Perhaps my peg will get more use than my x86. :-)

Well, I use my A1200T daily, give or take the odd day. I use my A1200D whenever I feel like a nostalgia trip.

I have to use my x86 box most days, but its not out of choice :-D

You really need to find a good excuse to use it more ;-) .

Mine's on a lot more since I got a TV card, use it check my email daily with YAM (use the household Mac for most of my surfing as its got broadband) and AmigaWriter and Art Effect get a run pretty regularly too.

I try to run mine as little as possible, it's on borrowed time, I don't want it to die on me.

Some times have to run it for music work, but most of the time. Emulators cover my Amiga needs, the ones that AROS doesn't cover anyway :-) .

Don't worry, dude!
While I'm surfing the net, and chatting on IRC using my x86 machine, my Amiga is currently switched on.
It is now 'type' ing an .iso file from a Zip disk to the shell, and putting a pretty display all over the place!
It has managed to do some pretty wonderful things using escape sequences to change the text color, and really corrupt the screen! It has written into the dragbar area more than once since it started! :-D

I have my 4000T on a LAN (10Base-T) with my *cough* *cough* pc *cough* *cough* running DSL.  My 4000, if I have a faster processor, could run great on my LAN.   :-D

Well, though I posting this from the NEW A1, I have my A2000
running behind me as it holds most of my data. If it had an ethernet
card I'd have tried to link it to this machine.
