Description: After setting up my A1200 and A2000 with WB 3.1 and Scalos 1.2d a while ago I decided it was time to remove all eyecandy crap like Birdie, PowerIcons, TitlebarShadow, VisualPrefs and more (old shots: here and here) from my A3000T and install Scalos 41.5.

Better stick with 1.2d on a 030 it's much faster.

I'm removing Scalos from my A3000T because I found a nasty bug in the empty.trashcan.module yesterday.

I've set up a trashcan on my Scratch partition with the delete.module. When I empty the trashcan it starts deleting the files in it but also all the files on that partition. Luckily this partition only holds some tmp and browser cache files.

Scalos v41.5 has some very nice features but this feature I can do without. Too bad...

Now I'm thinking of removing OS3.9 and installing OS3.1 with Scalos v1.2d. Allready tested that a while ago.

Installing Scalos went fine. However I did disable some stuff because the standard install is slow on a 040.

I don't use TrueType fonts. The console settings in the Scalos desktop prefs revers to KCON: wich locks up the computer, changed that to CON:. Changed window smart refresh to simple refresh.

Disabled thumbnails, icon tooltips. persist plugin, xtwindows plugin, statusbar in windows, rearrange icons on resize and all OS3.9 wbstartup stuff.

I also installed an older version of popupmenu.library because there's no way to change the look of the desktop menus. The older version also has a settings program (doesn't work with the newer lib).

After that it's fast but the older Scalos (1.2d) runs circles around this version. Unfortunally the older version doesn't play nice with glowicons.

Did the Scalos update give you a lot of headache?
