Title: I built a raspmiga
Post by: cjk303 on November 24, 2020, 08:00:42 PM
I already have a bunch of amigas, 500's, 1200's, 600's but I keep them in a pristine condition and not use them (because im a collectioner type and I want to save those for future generations. So I wanted to have one that I can actually use but I never felt like getting turbo cards, indivision aga or even a vampire (besides the standalone version) so I thought I'd build a raspberry based emulator that looks like the real thing.

I bought a broken amiga 500 keyboard (the membrane needed replacing - brand new one installed), fixed it, retrobrightened the keys and made it look like new.
Then I bought a damaged, yellowed and heavily scratched case which needed some work but in the end turned out just like new.
Then a raspberry PI 4b, then Tynemouth USB converter for amiga keyboards, 3d printed ports, some cables and here it is:

I will be running Pimiga on it as I was told it's pretty good. Do you guys have any other ideas on what I should use ?

I hope to do that for an A600.
Congratulations.

Agreed! Nice 3D application. Wish I had one. Seen that new 4D printer on the market?

I bought two A600's a while back.
Before that I asked the dealer if I could buy both at a reduced amount and they agreed.
I have one with a Spanish kb and one with a UK bk.
Both now have solid state drives ( cf and a sd card).
Later.

I am planning to put inside something much more powerful than this setup. Just for fun really as it's pretty pointless. The only point is to see a crazy sysinfo rating. I have a damaged ASUS ROG laptop with a very tasty I7 CPU inside, the case and the screen are damaged, mainboard is having some issues with its GPU but it's not like I need those so it could be perfect to make the fastest "Amiga 500" looking clone ever out of trash.
