Yes! You must start from somewhere, if you want to build an A4000. :-D  :-D

I think the price was about right to be honest.

The price was "about right"? :lol:  That's ridiculous, there's a guy making new ones for something like $65 shipped. Individual Computers stated there will likely be a new production run of the Indivision (probably less than $200), and there have been rumors of a new internal A1200/A4000 unit.

Plus, it's only 16-bit which is kind of "ghetto" for AGA use.

Even if the auction was legit (which I doubt), and there were a couple of of guys actually willing to bid ridiculous amounts, doesn't mean they're now "magically" worth quadruple what they normally sell for.

--edit-- Aside from the auctioneer's buddy, are there any others here who think $900 is a great deal for an external 16-bit scandoubler, and would gladly plunk down the cash? :D

@thread

i put my ff/sd out on ebay yesterday, i'm in the process of putting up lots of stuff so it's more or less coincidental (i can see that people are interested in the sd right now so my timing is just about right;).

i won't cry if the auction ends at 300$ like it is now, i paid about 200$ for it and i'm happy with whatever bid over that.

a sidestory, if i remember right, is that this Indivision Scandoubler from Schönfelds Individual Computers, was to be priced at a bit over 100$ originally, but then the batch of goods was stalled because of war in the area of the ship heading for Germany or something?? hehe i might have dreamt this, can someone confirm? :) that's the reason why it had such a high price to begin with.

ofcourse i agree that 900$ is too much, i wouldn't pay that much for it anyway, but if some guy wants to, it's not wrong in itself is it? i mean people pay a lot of money for a lot of weird stuff that i wouldn't dream of paying _anything_ for..

@kidkoala

The Indivision scandoubler did indeed retail at about $100 originally. In fact, that was what I paid for it in 2000 (I still have it). This is totally insane though...  :crazy:

I guess I might sell it when I am ready for retirement in about 30 years and live comfortably off the cash I get, lol.

Stuff is definately becoming expensive. As our machines get older and more and more people hold onto stuff, the prices start getting crazy:

and

I remember selling similar items years ago for less money and there is still days to go on these - someone is going to pay through the roof to get PPC and 060 boards in their A1200/A4000 machines.

More mad prices for an Indivision:

I have had 2 of these from new and they were both 100 pounds each (bough one in early 2000's, another a year or so ago). Mad prices, but if you cnnot source them elsewhere, whatcha gonna do?

I think the price was about right to be honest. Adjusting for current interest in the system of course.

No offense but are you effing kidding me?  Was about right?  I don't have a problem with the item ending that much, as it is the bidders peragitive on how much they want to pay.  But I have a problem with your comment.  $910 is INSANE for a scan doubler/flicker fixer!  I paid $150 for mine (exact same one) like 2 years ago, and I think I OVERPAID!!

That is commendable and I am glad the seller was fair.  Good for him to get that much, wish I could do so well!

It was completely legit as he received payment in full..don't doubt the dream!

As far as new units are concerned it's all talk / rumors / ideas at this point and as we all know we probably shouldn't hold our breath for new items. After all..the original softhut listing still says that there will be another run of the toastscans in August but that was what, 2 years ago now?

As far as a question of being worth it and if it's magically worth the amounts they go for I think it's up to the people that pay for it. It seems to me that at least 3 people feel it is judging by the current / recent toastscan auctions.

Better $900 on a toastscan than a hooker.

Oh and as a sidenote the toastscan auction had 67 watchers.

Maybe you're right. $910 is a bit overpriced and most certainly beyond my range. I bid $40. Ha!

Times are a changin' people. Get used to the high prices. I did! :crazy:

Is this the same as the indivision ff/scand.?

FYI if this is indeed NOT the "Toaster Scan" unit, aside from looking identical, then it will NOT work with a Toaster setup. System will just lock up.  Ask how I know...

I usually think 'insane' is when it sells for more than the new price. US$1000 is *less* than I paid for my CyberStorm PPC, and they are all the same age, so I'd say a grand for a PPC is a steal! I'd love to return mine for full price, buy the exact same thing for $1000, and pocket the difference, any day of the week!

But I only paid a couple of hundred for my external FF/SD, so I'd have to agree that this is quite insane.
