The Radeon 9000 should work as it is "backwards compatible" with the Radeon 7500 (This is not a money back garantee however).

The drivers are "optimised" for the 7500 so even the 8500 will be missing some "whistles and bells" on the first pass (but should still give a speed boost over the 7500).

Where are you getting your information from?  We haven't released anything to this effect.  The "first pass" drivers are "optimized" (if you can call it that) for compatibility -- we're attempting to make it work with as many Radoen cards as possible (we'll release a list of tested cards a bit closer to the OS4 shipment).  The "bells and whistles" specific to each Radeon chip will probably come later in updated drivers.

As far as I get from the forefront site, they are implied in 2D drivers only. But who is doing the 3D since warp team is fully working on OS4 ?

call me crazy or call it overkill..but i whould get a radeon 9700 ;

Well, you asked for it.... "you're crazy"  :crazy:  or enjoy spending money.

While the 9700 is fantastic hardware, you may find that the 800MHz G4 will not have the horsepower to scale  this card to it's full potential. Let's also not forget the fact that OS4.0 will most likely have no 3D support for the 9700.

A more affordable 7500LE or 8500LE will do the job nicely.
