Title: Data transfer
Post by: Vlabguy1 on May 21, 2019, 12:57:38 AM
Hey guys I was wondering what are some “easy” ways to get data off of an Amiga and on to a USB thumb drive?  A friend is in a bind and she would like to be able to access and save the data to her PC.

Suggestions and or things you have done to transfer/save data .

Thank you in advance.

the simple solution for me was to buy a AmigaKit's A1200 pcmica adaptor with cf card and software.
I already had a card read/write on my pc.

newer way the rapid road usb for the 1200

You didn't say which amiga?

What type of amiga is it?

the esiest way is to use pc formated DD disks. but that leaves you with wery small amounts at a time.
And any amiga would be able to use that. At least since kick 2.0...
There are other solutions. but it depends on waht kind of amiga you are talking about...

As mentioned above.
And a null modem cable also.

If it's an A1200 or A600 try easynet from Amigakit along with Amiga Explorer which can be downloaded from Cloanto. Once on the same network Amiga Explorer allows you to browse the Amiga from Windows.

My bad guys... It’s an Amiga 4000t and I believe the files in question are Video Toaster clips/videos.

SCSI or ATAPI zipdrive in both ends.
100MB (or even 250MB) at your disposal. and it is a fairly cheap option. (though, SCSI drives tend to be costly...)
If you go ATAPI route, a 750MB drive should work, but i dont know of anyone that has tried....

Of course there is THIS (http://irixlabs.com/sddrivez2) option. have no idea where to get one. If you do, let me know... :D

If it turns out to be good, i want to order one myself. I've been looking at this for some time. but there has been no reviews of it yet.
At least not that is posted and available at google search...

Will do.  So far it hasn’t shipped as of today.  There is a driver set I need to get on to my 4000 so that will be the task while I wait.  Another issue is none of my Amigas are hooked up to the net.  I know that is a bad thing.  To be honest I have been not using my Amigas for quite sometime for many reasons but I hope to change that slowly.

I have changed limits and security. So see if that helps.
