there is a small registry hack to stop XP trying to detect plug&pray parallel printer, I can send it to you.
I have also used Willem and it mostly works fine.
My burner quit working ...
I switched to Win 2000 awhile back from Win 98.
Will the burner 'NOT' work with Win 2000 ??
Mel
I pulled this from another thread... looking for an answer.
I thought my burner is broken... (maybe not)
When I last checked, the Willem site didn't work anymore.

the problem is parallel port polling. I think XP/2000 has somekind of plug and play {bleep}e to udnerstand if something has been plugged into the parallel port. you must find a tweak to stop it. google.

Hmmm.... I have an old slow (233 mhz) PC with Win 98 SE.
If I understand correctly, it should work with Win 98.
It was working before but I thought when it didn't work
the last time I tried to use it (with Win 2000 PRO). It
wouldn't work on the parallel port.
The speed should not be a problem .... right ??

Willem forum here (http://www.willem.org/cgi-bin/yabb22/YaBB.pl)
XP registry hack to disable parallel port polling (copy and paste into a new text file and save it with the .reg extension - e.g. printer_port_disable.reg)
"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Parport\Parameters]
"DisableWarmPoll"=dword:00000001"
