hi every 1 just need to know if the amiga 2000 is any good as i have a chance to get 1 but i may need to sell my 1200 to get it?
-
It depends what you mean by "good". What are you going to do with it?
A stock Amiga 2000 can't do as much as an A1200 (no AGA, no hard drive, only a 68000 processor, probably an older Kickstart chip, OCS). But an expanded, up to date A2000 (Graphics Card, KS3.1, OS3.9, hard drive, accelerator card, ECS) can be better (and more expandable) than an A1200.

dont sell it 8-)

Agreed... don't sell unless this is some sort of super expanded A2000. A stock A2000 that you never plan to expand may as well be a stock A500.

Just try to buy the A2000 without selling your A1200..

Depends what's in the 2000 (accelerator? SCSI card? Video Toaster?) and whether or not you need AGA...
If you have an interest in any Zorro cards, the 2000 might be good for you.

Hi there,
Don't trade a 1200 for a 2000.
Amiga 2000s are often sold on eBay. I purchased one last year and three more for parts. (I'm a bit nostalgic about those machines.)
I recently saw one with a starting bid of 9.00 US dollars.
Just set up a saved search on eBay for Amiga 2000s and you'll soon find one for cheap I'm sure.
Keep your 1200.
Note: 2000s are a bit heavy and some eBay users aren't too enthusiastic about proper packaging.

Whatever you do, do NOT sell the A1200! The A2000 can be a great computer. It can expanded into almost anything you need (except an AGA Amiga).

I have a DEAD (till now) A2k in the room. But when it runs is very like an A500.
No acelerator in it, I sold that a few years ago (when the 2k dies). Only a Toaster in it (no use in other machines).
Anyway if you want a 2000, never, ever, sell a 1200 to get one.

Selling an Amiga... sir... if I may... (cough cough.. lemme try my best full metal jacket....) WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION SON~!?!?!?!
:D
Never sell a miggy. You'll regret it. Trust me...i've been there and ten years later I still have nightmares about it.

I agree, don't sell an A1200 to buy an A2000! You should be able to find an A2000 for $40 US or less with a SCSI controller and small hard drive. The A1200 is much easier to expand than the A2000 due to availability of expansions and their cost is usually less too.

I'll second that. The last Amiga I sold was my A3000. I practically gave it away in trade for a few PC-games (urgh).
If you need to sell your A1200 to get an A2000, then it's just way too expensive. A bog standard A2000 shouldn't cost more than $20. Higher prices depend on the expansions.
