Karlos is right - over 30 years of gaming... picking only one is REAL tough. It would even be a stretch to pick just one across all the platforms we might be familiar with. Having said that, I guess I'd be inclined to pick something that's different almost every time you play it. Utopia for Intellivision for example is way up there as a fav as is INTV Baseball. Pinball Construction Set on C64. Dune II on Amiga. I'm also really partial to Super Street Fighter II Turbo and C.E. arcade or SNES. Yeah, not so sure I could ever pick just one without qualification and breaking it down by genre and platform   ;)

NOT!  lmao   When I had an N64, I absolutely loved Rush 2049's Stunt Track. Now I enjoy the arcade version on the PS2 Midway Collection disc.

The greatest game EVER is Bomb Jack on the CPC 464! It had no pause function and was for me the crack of the game playing world. I used to play it for hours as you couldn't stop.

Really hard to pick one game as a favorite after so many decades and so much change. There are some Apple II games as candidates, some C64 games, Amiga games, PC games.. too many... Give me time and I could probably put together a top 25 but nailing down an order would be difficult...

Just to throw something out there, I'll say Postal II (PC) or Nuclear War (Amiga).

Tough Question...

Dark Forces I and Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
DOOM
Shadow Warrior
Castle Crisis (Warlords Clone for the Atari 8-bit)
Yoshi's Island
Bruce Lee (Atari 8-bit as well as the more recent GBA Bruce Lee)
Bionic Commando (NES)
Grandia II (Sega Dreamcast)

You know, I really don't have an answer for this, I could sit here and list great games all day.

I agree this is hard after all these years of games....
But I would have to go with Half Life 2, or Bioshock
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

This one's pretty close, if not number one.

TONE .... Yes, Tapper is my sister's favorite C64 game of all time too!  Very fun if you're in the right silly mood.

Bomb Jack on the C64 in a joystick was the first time my (now 6 year old) actually read.  a few months before his 3rd birthday, I was playing trying out Bomb Jack for the first time.  He walks in, and asks me "What's Bomb Jack?"  He had memorized words before that, but "Bomb Jack" was the first think I ever saw him read words he had previously never seen before.

So, while I doubt I would put Bomb Jack on the list for game play, it definitely get's high marks for being my son's first truly read words.

I never had much money for games, or friends I could copy them from, but I did have a subscription to Compute's Gazette, and found some real gems in their collection, over the years.  Tough to say if it's a definitive "favorite", but one I'll never forget is Crossroads.

I want to say Street Fighter II, but I have a hard time deciding which version I like best.
Hyper SF2 Anniversary Edition, I guess?
The only other games that come close are Tetris, Doom, Quake, Actraiser, and Golden Axe.

If you count pinball machines -- they were in arcades, too -- then it would be "PinBot," hands down.  Otherwise, "Last Resort" on the NeoGeo.

Second would be "BallBlazer" on just about any platform: Atari 5200, Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit.  Honorable mentions would be "CyberSled," "Xevious," both arcades, though several home conversions of "Xevious" are quite nice (including the J2ME recently released.)
