MultiEdit Updated
« on: November 22, 2020, 05:11:35 PM »

A=EON Technology Ltd is pleased to announce a new public update to the MultiEdit text editor:  version 1.13 is now available on the Updater utility

It has been made available as a free download to customers who have purchased the standalone MultiEdit from AMIStore in 2016*

Additionally any customer who has previously purchased the commercial version of the Enhancer Software will be able to download it for free from the Updater utility.

This free update is not available on AMIStore directly: to download it you must have Updater installed on your system.  If you have not previously purchased the commercial version of the Enhancer Software, the easiest way of doing this is to download and install the free of charge Enhancer Software Core.  The Core edition contains the Updater utility and will give you access to the free of charge update to MultiEdit under the System tab.

The latest MultiEdit requires the new Toolbar Gadget Class.  Please install that to your system using Updater at the same time that you update MultiEdit.

* requires Updater and Toolbar GC to be installed

That depends on how you would define multis.

It is exactly not what it sounds like, an editor equivalent to MultiView, capable of editing any files for which you have datatypes installed.

Multinational Corps?
OCP? INGEN?

Edit
So now it says it is a text editor. Glad this is clarified, all we needed was a multi text editor, without any show case or screen shot or website or any other reference of the usability or usefullness of said editor.
Exciting.

well it is exactly that, a replacement for Notepad (with tabs) ! you are mixing up with Multiviewer, which is a multiview replacement (with tabs)...

Bug report for MultiEdit:

1) if you shift-click open multiple files (or do the equivalent, drag multiple file icons onto AmiDock/X-Dock with MultiEdit's icon), it only opens the first file. Expected behaviour would be for all files to be available in the sidebar rather than having to add them AFTER the app has launched. (note that multiviewer has a similar but different bug too, see below)

2) Even if you have more than one file in the sidebar, only one tab control shows in the tab gadget above the editor. I assume all files should appear here too if they appear in the sidebar, otherwise what is the tab bar for? It would be nice actually to choose the sidebar OR the tab bar and not only have both (I know you can turn off the tab bar)

And since they obviously share a lot of code and presumably written by the same guy, here's a MultiViewer bug too:

3) Similar to (1) above, if you shift click open multiple files, or drag multiple files to the amidock icon, multiviewer opens one window for every file. Expected behaviour, given the purpose of multiviewer, would be for one window to open, with all files in the sidebar. otherwise what's the point in the sidebar if you have one window for every individual file.
