No, at this point, we know that it works for you, in your configuration. What we do not know what happens if you do not have the adapter installed, or one end not connected, with gates floating.

Your whole big argument was that you won't release what you don't have the hardware to test. Now that problem is solved - it works.

Now your problem is that you don't not have the hardware, so you can't test what the module does when the splitter isn't installed?

Do I have to send you an envelope with a nothing in it, so you can use the nothing for testing purposes?

A normal human being would just try it on a bare motherboard with one drive and see. I'm sure you have that.

No, more people to test it with and without the splitter.

A normal human being would just try it on a bare motherboard with one drive and see. I'm sure you have that.
For that, you first need to have access to the motherboard. At this point, I don't.

At this point, I don't.

So what would be the point of me sending you an "original" IdeFix97 adapter from IComp?

So you have no system with IDE? No A600, A1200 nor A4000, and I already know you don't have access to CD32, so no AGA either.

You said you won't release what isn't tested on real hardware

so is os 3.2 cancelled?

No. It just means that where I am right now I don't have an Amiga that has an IDE interface. Was this really so hard to conclude?

Will SetDate and Date be able to use the date format set in locale too, or will it--for consistency reason--force everybody using the shell to use a foreign format?
Why "will"? Date and Setdate use StrToDate from the dos.library, and this function is patched over by the locale.library since a long time. It accepts input in the current locale since WB 2.1, I would say.

Mmh.. it does not here. Locale is set to Denmark, Workbench shows the date in format YYYY/MM/DD. The shell shows in format DD-MMM-YY.

6. Ram Disk:> date
Lørdag 14-Dec-19 16:56:49
6. Ram Disk:> setdate testfile.txt 2019/06/14
SetDate failed: Invalid DATE of TIME string!

It talkes back half Danish, half English btw, even tho the preferred language is Danish

I changed locale "country" to use Austria, "preferred language to Deutsh": Workbench displays YYYY-MM-DD for a folder with the option "Show by name" format. A new shell still shows DD-MMM-YY.

6. Ram Disk:> date
Samstag 14-Dez-19 17:01:27
6. RAM Disk:> date 2019-12-13
***Bad args
- use DD-MMM-YY or <dayname> or yesterday etc. to set date
HH:MM:SS OR HH:MM to set time

And here too, it speaks with me in English not in Austrian (granted 3.1 didn't do it either)

Version c:date 37.2, version c:Setdate 37.1. Verified if it's the same version on the Workbench3.1.4 disk.

I tried the above, starting from OS 2.1 up to OS4.1FE Update 1
The latter is the only OS accepting the date format as set in locale.

Can you confirm this or show me how to do it correctly? Thanks! :)

It's quite simple. Date expects the date in the same format it prints. The help text is confusing, I fixed this.

português.language          1096 ----rw-d 27-Sep-18 22:07:14
norsk.language              1056 ----rw-d 27-Sep-18 22:07:14
nederlands.language         1072 ----rw-d 27-Sep-18 22:07:14
italiano.language           1072 ----rw-d 27-Sep-18 22:07:14
français.language           1068 ----rw-d 27-Sep-18 22:07:14

Well, they do have a rather interesting relationship to numbers.

But I think it boils down to the danish translator "vertex" being much more thorough in his work than his co-translators back in 1992. The assembler source code for the language files at all typically around 7kB. The danish one is by far the largest, with more than 26kB.

It seems that Danish has more complicated rules for case-insensitive string comparison as it has a separate function for it, and does not use the generic ANSI comparison for it. I do not know why.

I just experienced a funny thing on my current WB:
When copying (lots of) files, i can resize and rearrange open windows, but i cannot close them. Why is that and can you fix this?

No, I don't have a system with IDE interface *here and right now*. I will have one where I will be in February. Two systems: An A2000 and a A1200, but in two different places. Do not worry, the interface will find its way to the A1200, but not right now.

Code: [Select]
Date Freitag 13-Dez-19
or just

Code: [Select]
Date 13-Dez-19
Note that you can specify non-existing dates, then the day will be ignored
Code: [Select]
Date Montag 13-Dez-19
If you just specify day, it will jump ahead to the next of this day
Code: [Select]
Date Freitag
And, as mentioned you can du superduper useful things like
Code: [Select]
Date Gestern
Date Morgens
to jump the system time back and forth.

I have no idea what the usecase is for the above ways of setting system time.

That is most likely because the workbench performs file copy in its own process. Window resizing and re-arrangement is done through intuition in the context of the input.device,  but closing windows requires the attention of the workbench process, though the workbench is currently busy.

There are third-party tools like AsyncWB (IIRC) which perform the copy in a separate process. The workbench has a hook programs can implement to perform such operations.

You invite people messing with you. And you know what? It works. We wanted IDE splitters to work with your scsi.device and after refusing and refusing you gave in and gave us exactly what to make it happen. If I was posting last year I could've got the new intuition in rom this way.
