The module is now shipping and is €99 (19% vat added) for the non-clockwork version

Do you have to wind up the clockwork version for it to work?

I asked AmigaKit that the other day here...
http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=68163

Probably two more weeks...  :rolleyes:

I'm wondering if a new version of Poseidon will be coming out (supporting the new RapidRoad module) that will enhance the use of the old Subway USB module... new & improved classes...  that sort of thing. It would be great to use a USB soudcard! :)

Maybe someone with an EAB account could ask Jens that question in the EAB post here...?

Mine arrived today from Jens' web site (payment via paypal) with an order date of 22-OCT-2014 and here, in Guam, it is 1-NOV-2014.  Not too shabby a transient time IMHO.

Last I looked at Poseidon, he'd open sourced it.  At least I'm pretty sure that was the case.

My question is.. how can it possibly get the full 480Mb/s?  The Amiga's buses couldn't handle that, could it?

slaapliedje

I thought that I had read that Jens of Individual Computers had purchased the Poseidon USB stack from the original author, and that it would continue to get updates written for it by someone working for Individual Computers, or perhaps a contractor developer doing work for Jens.  Perhaps Jens has also Open Sourced Poseidon to increase the chances of additional USB devices being supported in the future.  I guess I need to research exactly what Jens and Individual Computers are doing with Poseidon, to get my facts straight.

I have one of my A4000's with a Deneb installed set up so it can boot from a USB memory stick and it works quite well (thanks Tim for taking the time to set that up during one of your visits a long while ago).  If this new USB controller from Jens will work in a CDTV, I may buy one of them.  For now I have Subway's installed in my accelerated A600 & A1200, and the Deneb in my A4000, so I am pretty well covered for USB controllers for some of my Classic Amiga computers, but if I get back to work on expanding and enhancing the performance of my CDTV, being able to use USB with it would be a nice extra too.

Thanks to everyone posting for your feedback or reviews of the new Individual Computers USB controller.:)
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Hmmm, I found this;

http://www.amigans.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=909

Poseidon is under APL (Aros Public License).

Then also found this;

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61556

I'm not very familiar with the APL.  Looks like it's based on the MPL, but I'm not 100% familiar with it either.

Still not sure how/why someone would purchase the source, but hey why not, eh?

Bah, these are really old posts, so possibly irrelevant now.

Nice!  Do we know if there are any other differences between 4.4 and 4.5 besides the new driver?

I'm asking only because I finally got my Amiga all set up correctly (though randomly it seems to have a "run Program failed (error #80000003) Wait for disk activity to finish." error when starting up, or rebooting), and wondering if there are bug fixes, or more drivers available.

I would order mine from AmigaKit too except now they don't have the X-Surf 100 Ethernet adapter in stock...  I would really like to order both the USB module and the X-Surf 100 together for my A2000. :hammer:  Plus some other stuff I need. :(

Thanks AmigaKit! One other question... do you sell 4GB CF cards separately?
