Title: Which patches/libraries to update on OS 3.2
Post by: Calab on January 20, 2024, 01:21:34 AM
My Amiga 500 has a PiStorm installed and the system seems to be working OK. I've just installed OS 3.2 on a new memory card.

I see that there are many updates/patches/libraries/etc. available for download. Things like SetPatch43.6b or MMULib or IconLib46.4 or FreeType2. Does OS 3.2 provide newer versions of these patches, or should I still be installing them?

Is there a list anywhere of just what one should do after installing the OS?

First off visit the Hyperion website. Get yourself registered with a Login and password. There are a few updates to version 3.2 Amiga OS as well as ROM updates. Latest is version 3.2.2.1 and ROM version 3.2.2 (47.111). The OS has all the relevant updates for SetPatch.

On Aminet.net you will find the latest MMUlibs update from Thor. Recommend PeterK’s Icon lib 46.4 again on Aminet.net. This vastly improves the icon speed over the Hyperion one.

As for PiStorm updates then EMU68 nightly builds are worth a check on.

Not t be ungrateful, but Discord and I just don't get along... I've tried to use Discord, but it just looks like a big chat window to me, with a big list of icons and a long list of users that I don't know.

Example: This is one of the first things I found when I jumped on Discord today...

Have a great time here in PiStorm
Please look into the faq channel first.

Where do I even find the faq channel?

Well, of course you need to get familar with the chat platform Discord; e.g.

all of # are the channels in this Discord server.

I feel same as calab, Discord is clumsey and disorganised. Its a chat program, not a message board.

Its a nightmare to find anything, even with a search.
Think an important one, is not to use any 040 library as Emu68 includes its own. However as we are talking about Musashi it different.
