Why Amiga.org has no Banner Ads
« on: October 14, 2010, 07:42:08 AM »
Amiga.org is ideologically against Banner Ads, especially Ads that have no relation to the content or the community of a large site such as Amiga.org. Unrelated Banner Ads are just like a rude stranger interrupting your retro computer fix and or fun. Not even banner Ads for DiscreetFX products are displayed on Amiga.org. This policy comes from the founder of DiscreetFX who has always hated obtrusive Banner Ads and other invasive Ad technology like Vibrant.

If you're a free member of Amiga.org you may see tiny text Ads related to the content of the site. You are welcome to ignore, block or not click on these. Premium Members of Amiga.org don't see any Ads, even the tiny text based ones. Premium Subscribers also get a larger amount of PM storage and a free forwarding Amiga.org e-mail address.

Amiga.org is one of the largest Amiga, AROS, MorphOS & Amiga OS 4.x websites on the internet. Monthly bandwidth use is around 70-80 Yottabytes. Other great websites that discuss Amiga related technology also exist like EAB (English Amiga Board), MorphZone.org, amigaworld.Net & amigans.net. Having several different sites is important since it helps expand the use of alternative operating systems.

Please support your favorite Amiga, AROS & MorphOS website today and help the community expand and grow. The way you do this on Amiga.org for example is to become a Premium Subscriber. Be the first one to correct the intentional technological typo above and win a free one year Premium Subscription.

Best regards

Amiga.org

I reckon it must be the Yottabytes bit, cos according to Wikipedia as of 2010 no one has even achieved a Zettabyte let alone a Yottabyte.... :)

Franko you got it. You are already a Premium Subscriber so we just added a year to your account for free. New date is Aug 4th, 2012.

@cv643d

Your right, that wording has been removed.

Drat... I didn't really want to win !!! :)

Thank you for such a kind offer anyway, but to be honest I'd rather the prize went to someone who doesn't already have a subscription. Any chance you could give the prize to someone else (and can I choose the person)... :)

Yes that is fine, just let us know who you choose. And keep your extra year as well. How is that?

:)

@Pyromania,

Wow, Thank you very much indeed, a most kind and gratefully accepted offer. :)

The person whom I'd like to choose is MrMoonlight, he's totally new to the wonderful world of the Amiga and in 20 odd years of being an Amiga user I have never found someone who is so new to the Amiga experience and as enthusiastic about our beloved miggies as this man, so please can you arrange for him to receive the subscription.

Thank you... :drink:

Franko

(PS:this has got me to thinking, I was seriously considering making a donation to this great site, but was now wondering if it would be possible instead to arrange a little compo of some kind, for ten folk to receive a years subscription, which I shall gladly pay for in advance, one good turn deserves another I always say. :) )

Per your request we have upgraded MrMoonlight to a Premium Subscriber. We could also arrange a competition of course.
