DiscreetFX Supports charity: water
« on: October 12, 2010, 03:50:24 PM »
For the month of October 2010 we will be supporting charity: water

It's a great cause and helps poor people get a vital resource to keep them alive and healthy.

Purchase any lower cost product from our Amiga Shop like a Competition Pro joystick for example and we donate $5 to charity: water.

Purchase higher priced products over $60 and we donate $20 to charity:water. Twenty dollars gives a poor person in a third world county clean water for 20 years.

You don't have to buy anything from us, you can also donate direct via the link below.

Best regards

DiscreetFX Team

yes I did read that. I could do that anyway without your posting.

But the fact remains you are trying to drive slaes by saying we will give this if you buy this.

If you care enough, donate the money anyway.  Or just not donate the money and not mention it.

No JJ your wrong about that. Mentioning it is important because people learn about charity: water that did not know about it before. We have already donated to this charity in the past and are donating to it again with or without sales. Your trying to change this thread to something negative when in fact it's for an important cause. DiscreetFX has donated to many important causes over the years. Most of them were Amiga, MorphOS or AROS related. Helping poor people get clean water is very important as well.

Your welcome to read something negative into this if you wish, that is your option. But we are only trying to do something nice.

I disagree with you.  It's a win-win situation!  Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything.

However, I do get rather annoyed when large companies, such as Exxon Mobile, etc. spend $10 million to *advertise* to the public that they donated $1 million to some cause last year.

Hmm...  Most companies use tactics like this to tug on your heart strings, they're still business people at the end of the day.  Usually prices have been adjusted to account for the donation beforehand so as to not eat into profit margins; it's the customer that is donating not the company.

Better off just having a link the order confirmation page saying "hey we believe in this charity, please donate"etc
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

Certainly the beneficiaries are not complaining.  The net result is a positive one, I think you'll agree, even if you don't fully agree with the means.

We have added a video to the iShop that explains the charity: water cause in more detail.
