This is an excellent thought, but sadly I have no time to hike that way.  I live out near Pittsburgh.  I am going to have to remember this for the future.

With AmiWest 2014 only a little more than 2 months away, I would strongly suggest that you test your Amigas now and then bring any of them that need work to the Friday Night Classic Amiga Workshop event that precedes every AmiWest Show.  Several members show up and offer to help fix Classic Amiga computers for free and it is a great opportunity to meet new people who share your interest and passion for the Amiga.

As pointed out, I should have said where I am.  I am East Coast US, near Pittsburgh, PA.  I know hunting down someone close is going to be impossible, but anything helps.  Thanks to everyone who did reply.

Too bad you can't make it to the 2014 AmiWest Show, but there are many members who often discuss starting up some kind of AmiEast show, so I have no doubt you will be able to find Amiga users nearer to you that can help you out with any hardware fixes you need to have done.

The first step is to find out what is working and what is not, then decide what models you wish to work on getting repaired first.  Good luck with your quest to get some of your Amiga computers set up and running the way you want in the near future.

I checked to see what part of the U.S. you are in, and there was no mention of it in your original post. However beneath your avatar you claim "Somewhere on the Moon, USA" as your location.

I have traveled up to a couple hours each way to help people get their Amigas running.
Unfortunately, I'm not within two hours of the moon.

I don't think we have many members here from the Moon. (though after reading some threads I COULD be wrong). That might be one issue that reduces the replies you'll get.

Yep, using USPS First-Class Package International Service, about US$25 each way.  Pricing available on the website, which offers discounts too.  I regularly process many such repairs from dozens of different countries.  Professional level repairs to what can be regarded as specialised hardware to component level is rarely going to come for nothing.

In addition I have various unique self developed hardware and software tools for diagnosing complex low-level hardware issues, so can trace and repair a lot of faults that others cannot.

Dan is correct that I'm only accepting Amiga hardware repairs and parts orders for another 2-3 weeks, after which I'm back home to Antarctica for another 13-14 months.  Repair service and parts supply resuming in November 2015.  Technical support via Email will continue as normal.


But obviously test your existing hardware first.  If it boots and operates fine and only needs capacitors replaced, then the capacitors can simply be replaced by anyone with reasonable soldering skills.  Not a lot of point sending it to me just for that unless you wanted to pay for the international freight.

Thanks.  As with the previous trips, the 13 months in Antarctica was mostly cold, dark and depressing, everyone went a bit insane and I didn't really get much Amiga work done.  So it's good to be back to normality.

Wow! Incredible Oct 2015 pics! That C17 in action is awesome in the snow! LOL, big load in that cargo bay!!! I was in the USAF in Ground Radio repair (all HF - V/UHF) for about 13 years bouncing around the Pacific between Japan, Korea and the Philippines, so yea, been there, done that - but not in that cold of an environment - Korea got cold as heck in the winter though! Good times!

So I have in my possession a pile of Amiga computers.  Three A2000's, Two A1200's (One in a tower with a damaged motherboard I think), Two A4000's and some odds and ends parts.  What I would really like is to get the A1200T and one of the A4000's put into functional shape.  I was never that good with hardware, even 20 years ago.  I am looking to see if there is anyone in the US who is available to try putting something together.  Any replies welcome.  If someone is stateside, I'd gladly send them everything i got, so they could have it for parts.  And to clean off my computer desk of course.

Any luck on the repairs?
