@kolla:

Menu checkmarks have nothing to do with the Amiga tick; any resemblance between them is coincidental. Checkmarks are used for togglable menu items, and dots (not boing balls :-D ) are used for mutually exclusive items, which is pretty standard on most OSes.

@kolla:

They are two different things: one is the menu equivalent of a checkbox, and the other is the menu equivalent of a radio button. So it makes sense to distinguish them, this is done not just by Windows but by OS4. There are plenty of bad interface designs in MacOS and no reason to blindly make the same mistakes. This is for Amigas not Macs.

@TribbleSmasher:

Language and country are two separate things and always have been.

>Oh great - so checkmarks as ...heh... "radiobuttons" are removed in menus, but kept in cycle-to-menu, with flying colours, litereally, da effin lolz... consistency!

This has now been changed; chooser.gadget will be consistent with the rest of the OS.

>Are "hidden" volumes (wb prefs) possible to open via the "open volume" in Workbench menu?

No.

>is AmigaOS 4.1 FE for classics compatible with the 3.2 Kickstart ROMs?  And by 'compatible' I just mean 'will not break if I install them.'

Using an A4000 3.2 ROM instead of an A4000 3.1 ROM works fine for booting OS4.1FEu2 in WinUAE.

Workbench will not open a hidden window; this includes eg. requests from ARexx scripts to do so.

You are right, this behaviour hasn't changed for 3.2. Hidden WB windows are not openable via ARexx or similar methods.

I don't really see a problem with that though: if you wanted to use look at those devices/volumes in WB then you would not tell WB you wanted them hidden in the first place, logically.

That program is buggy, you can see for yourself at https://github.com/Arisamiga/Mnemosyne/blob/main/src/window.c that it is not using MENUTOGGLE flag like it should.

At a guess, probably didn't read the relevant chapters of the Libraries RKM and the Style Guide.
