3.5 disk problem
« on: December 05, 2005, 07:58:21 PM »
If anyone can help, I will really appreciated it.
A few years ago I owned an Amiga. I think it was a 2000.
I generated a couple of disks with very important information on them. I now need that information, but can not retrieve it with the computer I now own.
I took the disks to the computer shop where I purchased the pc. They told me there is something on the disks, but were unable to open them.
It is like having a book with the pages glued together.
Please Help!
Thank you, Warbonet.

They weren't able to read the disks because amiga floppies are unreadable on pc drives. They can be read with a catweasel controller, but for one disk retrieving could be a bit expensive. If you still have your amiga you can transfer it to your pc, using a serial cable and amiga explorer from cloanto.

An other way is to use a real Amiga that supports crossdos. Format a PC 3.5 Disk low density disk. Make sure it is a Low Density format. Windows2000 or 98 will let you do that but no WinXP. Then just copy your files on the PC formatted disk. Bingo ...your done.

If you are in the UK you can send me those disks and I will transfer them to a PC disk or CD for you. Where are you located?

Your best bet is to get a hold of someone with an Amiga to transfer the data to a PC 720k or email it to you.  Where are you located?  I am sure you can find an Amiga user close by to do this for you for free.
