Email Services?
« on: June 19, 2004, 07:41:56 AM »
Hi there. An idea just hit me when accessing my yahoo mail with me Amiga.
/me Bugger! I could log in and compose mail. How the heck can I SENT this with the 'SENT' button missing! and 'ATTATCH FILES'. Wish A.Org had similar services for the Amiga.

That's why it lead me to post this idea here. What do you think? It will greatly help Amiga users like me and others whom just had similar problems. If such service is possible I'd register in a heartbeat! :-D

Hope it's not a hassle for A.Org of my suggestion? Besides, I really hated yahoo mail anyway!

 Thanks and regards.
Good day to all Amigans!

That's a great idea, why not an Amiga.org e-mail service. It would
help bring in some extra revenue to pay for the site.

Yahoo always did smell, it's hard to believe something as simple as a
button-click has stopped the whole Amiga community using Yahoo Mail.

What happened to the motto "Because We Can!" !?

Three reasons;

1) Control issues.  We don't have the time to run around policing people's use (or misuse in the case of some) of e-mail services.  You would not believe some of the things we saw when we had to remove the Amiga.org e-mail forwarding service earlier

2) Lack of hardware -- would require a dedicated server ($$$) and lots of programming to automate such a system.

3) Lack of profitability -- it would take far more time organizing and operating such a system than it would ever provide in additional income.  Remember, running this site isn't a full time job for anyone.  E-mail services are not a profitable venture and most of the advertisers in this community couldn't afford to support such a service.

What version of IBrowse are you using and what security settings are
enabled or disabled?

As far as I can work out, every Amiga browser has trouble when it
comes to clicking the delete/send buttons on Yahoo mail.
