NC/SC Amiga User Group Meeting
« on: June 08, 2005, 03:52:14 AM »
The NC/SC Amiga user group will be holding it's second quarter group meeting on Saturday June 18, 2005. If you are in driving distance, please make arangements to stop by. You do not have to be a member to drop in and chat with the group.

Get the chance to meet with other Amiga enthusiasts in your area, and also an opportunity to see the latest build of OS4. We are hoping to have some midi with the latest Camd.libray demoed by Lyle, but this is not confirmed for sure as of yet. Keep a check on the site for updates.

For more information, check out the meetings page on our group website.

Actually at 421 miles it's sorely tempting as a day trip, but looking over the site I'd have to wonder if I wasn't a little out of place.

We would be glad to have you drive over Wayne.  You wouldn't be out of place at all.  Heck we even had Iolo (Pegasos user from Spain) as an honorary member during his stay at UNC-Chapel Hill.  He didn't attend meetings, but he did join in on the forums and on our IRC meetings.

After all we, all have the same heritage... All the rest is just different opinions that don't mean alot when you gather around to chat about Amiga stuff.

Yep.  All the online crap with "this site versus that site" or "that guy is a smeghead" tends to melt away when you're able to meet face to face.  A lesson I learned at the last Amiwest I attended.

Still thinking about driving up, but just have to figure out the strategics like "where to stay" and "how to pay for the 3 tanks of gas it'd take to drive".  To and from on the same day would be rough.

@Wayne

It'd be great if you could pick me up on your way through Atlanta,
but I don't think my schedule is going to work out.

I need to move back down to the South-Eastern U.S.  You seem to have a bigger community down there than in Montana. :-(

The whole "through atlanta" thing doesn't make sense  to me.  I used to live in NC and always went through Chattanooga.

@Wayne

Sorry, for some reason I thought you were in Alabama.
If that were true, then Atlanta would be on the way to N.C.
depending on the route from Ala. to N.C.
Say from Birmingham, go 20 to Atlanta, then 85 to N.C.
But if you're not located there it makes no sence at all  :-P

@ottomobiehl

How much bigger I wonder these days :-)

But Montana does leave you at quite a disadvantage.
What convinced you to move out there? Good job I'm guessing?

@Wayne

Well, we are located right on the I-85 access road (now renamed) but there are plenty of motels and hotels in the area.  In fact, we have about 8 at this one exit alone.

@Plaz

Atlanta is not too much of a drive.  If you see that you can make it, send me an email and let me know.

Naw, family.  Actually the job market out here is pretty bad.  I have a friend in Conyers who really wants me to move back out there.  I seriously considering it. :-(

@ottomobiehl

Lots of jobs here, but tons of traffic too.
Worse than when you left I'm sure.
Best of luck working it out. At least that would
be two Amigas still in Atlanta. There are more,
but I haven't heard from them in some time.

@Wayne &
@thread

Wayne, I think your trip would be worthwhile, as this user group just might have the
highest intelligence quotient of all.
(No offense to my friends in the other user groups)

Tony, please don't blush. Heh!

Best Wishes,
#6

@ Plaz

Traffic I can deal with as long I can work and get out of these sh**ty winters.  Actually the last time I was in Atlanta was in 95 and it seemed to have grown since I had lived down there.  I can only imagine what it would be like now.

I got my A1000 when I lived down there in the mid-80's plus I had my C=64 then.  Seemed to be alot of people back then who were Amiga users.  Of course that has changed.

Isn't there a user group in Atlanta?

Just to be open about it, I don't believe that I will be able to make it, though the desire is there.  I don't believe I'll be able to free up the approximately $200 required to make such a trip (3 tanks of gas and a hotel for Friday -and possibly Saturday- night).

OK, I'm in. I've planned a weekend with the family in Charlotte that
also let's me make the meetting on Saturday. I've already made Hotel
reservations and plans for the neighbor to watch the cat for a couple
of days. :-) Unless there is an unforseen change of plans, I'll see you
there. BTW anyone interested in a Prometheus demo, I feel like I sould
bring some thing for show-n-tell. Or will there be time?
