Latest posts?
« on: February 15, 2004, 12:15:57 AM »
Whilst I am not a huge fan of the aesthetic changes to the site (lots of brown) I recognise that a site such as this must evolve if it is to perpetuate.  I hope no offence is taken by those in charge of the site (none is implied) but that is the way I feel.  However, I do object strongly to the lack of a 'latest posts' button/link.  I feel, that without this, it is impossible for a live community feeling to persist.  Having logged on tonight, there is a woolly (almost dead) feel to proceedings.  Surely this can't be a truly dynamic forum if we can't see the latest posts and their replys and have the option to respond to them immediately?

Heh... I just nearly started the exact same thread :-)

I was also going to ask, since the 'latest posts' has to be re-written for the new XOOPS, would it be possible to put page numbers in the table? It always seemed strange to me that the links on latest posts takes you to the first page of each thread...

It's weird, you have to stumble upon a thread to find it! Lots of people use this site to quiz others about specific topics.  Their chances of being helped out seem pretty slim at the moment.  I only saw your reply because I know you are an active member of this community, saw you were online, clicked on you (so to speak) and saw that you had left a post on this thread - convoluted or what?

Say, the "Whos Online" info is a bit more detailed. I was looking at the last posts page and it said that X people were browsing forum and 1 person viewing last posts...

Way to get singled out :-D

If each of you weren't simply so hard to please, you would have noted that Amiga.org's home page is no longer on the news page.  There is NO reason for "Latest posts" to be on the NEWS page when that is not the entry page for the site.

It's not difficult, and the colors DO grow on you, very quickly.

@Wayne

I think people are referring to the actual 'latest posts' link that used to grace the top right of each forum page. Speaking personally, that particular link was my main forum navigation ;-)

Oh.  I can't believe the amount of whining over such a little thing.  *that* I can certainly put back.

According to my girlfriend I should pay more attention to the little things. :-)

Sure the new look takes some time to get used too. I bet if you surf the site for a week and then the old look would be back everyone would complain about that one.
