Why do I have to keep logging in to the new AO?
« on: November 10, 2009, 04:37:25 PM »
The new AO does not seem to keep my login information.  I am using Firefox 3.5.5 with nothing set to remove cookies for AO or any other blocking enabled for the site.

I can log in, but once I navigate away from the page, close tabs, etc., AO "forgets" me.  What up?

Are you checking off the little box near the login/password entry fields? Doing so will keep you logged in.
Call me Golan; my parents did.

I think the message to that box might be a little misleading (at least the last time I checked).

I agree. It says, "Register or have you forgotten your password?" which doesn't give any indication as to what the checkbox does.

Do you have any objection to add-ons?

If not, try this one for enhanced usability of your browser --> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4429 :)

Happens to me on my Mac too.  I have to enter my user name and it then finds my password and I just enter Login.

Thanks to all who responded.  Out of frustration I created a new Firefox profile and that seems to have done the trick, allowing me to set the check-box to keep me logged in.
