Commodore/Amiga at Bay Area Maker Faire, May 18-19
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:08:02 AM »
Greetings, C= and Ami comrades!

If you should be in the San Francisco area May 18-19, you are invited to the Bay Area 2013 Maker Faire at the San Mateo Events Center, 1346 Saratoga Dr., San Mateo, California.  Join the thousands and thousands of people who attend this annual event.  Maker Faire runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

This year is extra special, because Erik Klein of Vintage-Computer.com has invited other classic computerists to share his tables.  So, in the limited space that has been assigned for each computerist, the Fresno Commodore User Group will have an exhibit - a classic Commodore 64 system and a classic Amiga 2000 system.  Not only will we have games running on the systems for all to play, but we will also have the Relax Stress Reduction System for the C64 and the Haitex X Specs 3D Stereoscopic Glasses for the Amiga.  Expand
your mind with these fun curiosities!

Who knows?!  I might be able to squeeze in a modded C64 DTV 30-games-in-one joystick and the ArcadeRetroGaming.com Multiple Classic Computer 216 (MCC-216).  And in the rest of the table space, Erik and others are bringing in a HP 87 with disk drive and a paper tape punch, a modded Atari 400, a modded Amiga 600, and Apple II hardware.

You can find our Vintage Computers' tables in the Expo Hall.  For more information on the program and schedule, how to get there, a map of the venue, go to

               Truly,
               Robert Bernardo

P.S. Catch Jeri Ellsworth as she wanders Maker Faire with a few new prototypes... !

No thanks.
Jeri kind of puts me off these days.

I got to the San Mateo Event Center at about 7 tonight, and I had an hour and a half to get the C= and Ami systems hauled out of the car and set up.  The others who were sharing the tables had set up their machines earlier.  There were many exhibitors still setting up their displays, and the atmosphere felt electric with all the enthusiasm they were showing.

When checking in to get my badge and wristband, I was told that 100,000 people were expected for Maker Faire!  (Seems that my thousands and thousands estimate was off)

The exact name of our tables is "Nostalgic Computers", and we are right next to the Digital Game Museum area, in the center of Expo Hall and facing the center stage.

Truly,
