Ryu: you sleeping in a dorm? TAKE EARPLUGS WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They saved me _many_ times when sleeping in hostels. Keeps out the snoring/wheezing/oozing sounds of other people sleeping. Oh and also handy for those noisy garbagetrucks outside :-).

I remember this one night in Melbourne when I didn't have earplugs and 2 ppl were screwing in a very noisy bunkbed 3 meters away from my bed. I came very close to murdering people that night.....

oozing sounds? :-?  is that a result of the people screwing?

just smoke loads of weed / drink loads of alcohol - then you'll have no trouble sleeping!  ;-)  :-P  8-)

Hi Ryu,

never been to a hostel in my life, but looking at the location it seems you're just a little outside of the city centre.
It is quite a walk to the event-place, so you're best off using public transport to central station. The building where the event is held is right next to central station (If you're standing in front of the central station, with your back to its exit, the party-place is on your right hand in the old looking building). It's actually the same building I work in.

Just noticed the movie "Freddy vs. Jason" is showing on saturday. Anyone want to go and see it on saturday-evening? I heard it's very bad... still want to see it though  :-)
In the Netherlands movies are usually in English and have Dutch subtitles, so anyone should be able to understand them I think.
Oh and here you can find some other info on things you can do in Rotterdam while you're there  :-P

You'd be surprised by the sounds some people make at night ;-).

There's only this detail of Ryu wanting to go to the BAS which starts at 10:00 :-).

@Ohno

Thanks for the help dude, all help is appreciated..

I'll be arriving in rotterdam on Saturday morning, luckily my bus drops me off right outside the central station so I should be able to see the building. I hope I can put my baggage somewhere during the show... dont fancy carrying around a big bag of clothes around aswell as my electrical goodies, I'll have to email the organisers... Or could I goto the hostel... book in and perhaps put my gear in a locker or something.... someone with hostel experience please fill me in here :-)

Hi,

Quote
what would be even cooler is if someone was going from the UK and going by ferry from Hull on the friday night like me, then we could meet up in one of the bars onboard

Yep, I am  :-D
I leave on Friday and come back on the Monday one.

I'm staying at the Hotel Commerce.

I hope to see you on the boat.
Im in a shared cabin both ways... hmm I wonder how many Amiga users will be on the ferry..  ;-)

@Oli_hd

hehe cool. When you said you'll be returning on the monday ferry did you mean youll get back monday morning or your on the monday night ferry. If its monday morning your on the same ferry as me both ways. As we discussed on the IRC channel meeting up would be cool, and you have my mobile number so feel free to get in touch.

To anyone else, if your going and want to meet up let me know, Im quite happy to give out my mobile number to those going...

I think there are lockers in the central station as well. Been a  while since I've actually been in there though. You can also PM me. My car will be down in the parking garage below the building. You can always put your belongings in the trunk. I can also drop you off at your hostel after the show if you like.

Regards,

Onno

Errr... The show is held at a restaurant which is about a 10 minute walk from where I live. Talk about trusting the cat to keep the cream! But I already agreed to spend the weekend out of town with my GF... Choices, choices, choices... :-(
Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.

I am afraid I can't go. You see, our son Hermen (see www.solcon.nl/daan) is only ten days old now, and my priorities are mainly pointed towards him, these days.

But I do wish you all a very good show. Maybe the visitors from UK can paint the ferry red-white checkered. A true Boing-ferry!

Man, I wish I could be there. But being with my son is truly a good alternative  :-D
