New Sharp Zaurus reviews!
« on: August 12, 2002, 05:19:07 AM »
A new review of the Sharp Zaurus at msnbc.com By Gary Krakow

It says "a whole bunch of games" is included, and "there are some terrific third-party titles being developed".

THEN, there's another review at Network World Fusion by Mark Gibbs. He gives it 10 out of ten!

-vortexau; who\\\'s still waiting! (-for AmigaOS4! ;-) )
savage Ami bridge parody

Since there isn't any connection anymore between Amiga and Zaurus, except for a sad footnote in history, is there any reason to post Zaurus news stories at Amiga sites? Insignia Systems got the java contract for the Zaurus, not Tao, so Amiga lost out, too. The Amiga links have been removed form Sharp's Zaurus web sites, IIRC. You can apparently flash the rom to install AmigaDE (so I've heard) but it voids the warranty. So why exactly do Zaurus stories keep turning up? Force of habit?

I'm looking forward to more Corel, Nokia, Met@box, Sun, RedHat, Tao Group, OCPA, MS/WinCE, Symbian, Linux and QT stories...
Doesn't Duracell make batteries fitting in most devices running an OS which something using an Amiga Inc.-owned trademark does/will/might run on? I demand a Duracell news and forum section!

@GadgetMaster:

Heh, it's not like we're not constantly being provided with a rich source of material. ;)

Amiga's Relationship With Duracell a Great Success!

Snoqualmie, WA, April 1, 2000 - Amiga Incorporated, is pleased to announce that its new multi-media consumer interface is well supported by Duracell "PLUS" AA and other Duracell batteries including the newly released "PLUS" AAA for Linux powered devices.

Amiga's multi-media consumer interface runs extremely smooth and fast on Duracell powered Linux devices, and the compatibility between these great products has provided Linux developers with a new and exciting way to create incredible multi-media titles, and games for Linux.

"Amiga pioneered the creation of multi-media, and easy to use graphical interfaces 20 years ago (Sic! Amiga Inc. were pioneers even before the first Amiga was released according to the original PR!), and today begins the path of the reintroduction of a legend. The New Amiga is the creation and embrace of leading technologies and combining them with the 20 years of experience in multi- media development environments," said Bill McEwen, president and chief executive officer of Amiga. "Duracell has leading products within their categories, and we are excited about their supporting Amiga towards the future."

"Linux developers now have choices when it comes to leading edge applications," added McEwen.

"Duracell is dedicating extensive resources to power Linux-based devices, and receiving such a positive endorsement based on Amiga's experience with our products is tremendous," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Duracell Corporation. "Duracell takes pride in producing quality products, and we are thrilled to provide our Duracell batteries to Amiga's world-class systems. We look forward to working with Amiga as they continue developing products and technology for current and future computing devices which are focused on making computers and the Internet a natural part of everyday life."

Duracell and Amiga first announced they were working closely to support the new Amiga Operating Environment in July 1999. The two companies formed a new relationship to ensure that Duracell's award-winning electricial potential generating applications were supported on Amiga's new line of products. Duracell and Amiga continue to discuss possible future alliances.

There will be full support for the existing install base of Amiga users, and more announcements will be forthcoming about the current Amiga and the next generation of those machines.
