If this device is similar to the one Alan from Eyetech has mentioned on the AmigaOne mailing list, then it will pass through PC-style tracks (or sectors, can't remember how it works) without modifying them.  I'm not sure whether Mac or any other types of floppies will work with this device, I guess it really depends on whether standard PC disk controllers can read them or not.

Tis is designed to work with Amithlon and UAE/Amiga Forever first and foremost. By changing the ROM on the card it can be made to work with other systems.
Hence on a classic Amiga or an Amigaone.
We should have some more information later this week. When DFx is not in use the drive will function as it did prior to attachment of DFx, passing everything through as before. I hope this helps shed some light on its operation.

I'll be looking forward to the detailed information. :-) I'm not interested in emulators, but if this little device works well, it would be a plus for the AmigaOne (I'm currently leaning more towards a Shark+), especially since it doesn't need a slot.

Speaking of slots, does anyone know why Individual Computers never released a Catweasel PCI?  It would have been a natural progression, I think...

Too expensive (the PCI-card), and expected sales were far to low.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

I'm pretty sure no-one will read this now, but:

I was in a hurry to write a comment before I hit my 2 hour cutoff, so didn't even read the article properly. I was under the impression - albeit very briefly - that this thing was PCI. Amithlon and Mediator PCI addressing ranges are different, so it wouldn't be a simple matter of adapting for the Amithlon.

Anyway, I was wrong. It's not even PCI. I'm an idiot. Don't read the comment ;-)
