Hello all.

Thought I'd join because I want to bring my old A1200 back into service, and any guidance would be helpful.

When I was a teenager, I always wanted to put a hard drive into my A1200, but never had the money. Its only recently I've found that 2.5" hard drives would suit an A1200. Is it as simple as a standard ATX system? Just plug into the A1200s IDE port?

I'll have a string of follow up questions, but I'll post them in relevant forums.  :-)

Welcome! Yes, the A1200 can take a 2.5" HD pretty easily, although you may need a cradle to keep it in the right place (or perhaps some sticky buds, or something)...

Note that unless you've upgraded beyond OS3.1, the machine will not work correctly with a drive that is greater than 4GB - not the easiest of drive size to locate, but really slimline 19mm high drives of this capacity were common in Dell laptops a few years ago - you may be able to salvage one...
