Greetings all

Greetings Amiga.org. I've swooped in from time to time trying to keep up with things amiga related. First time reg'ing an account and saying hello because I successfully purchased an A500 on Ebay (BONUS the seller didn't even realize the expansion card was in it) So I have the same level of A500 I had when I was 14 (now double and some change).

Anyways, I have been trying to find some source code like that found in the old COMPUTE! magazines for Amiga BASIC so I can sit around with my kids and show the Amiga off with them.

Here's hoping I still remember how to make a null modem cable since the A500 didn't come with any software so I'll have to transfer my Amiga Forever stuff to it.

Welcome!

I'd recommend checking out AmiBlitz, a free version of BlitzBASIC, it's nicer than AmigaBASIC, and can do many cool little things quite easily.  (Although from experience a 1MB A500 is a bit tight with memory)

Happy coding.

search for an a590 hard disk-ram expansion at ebay, it will help a lot.

Hello, and good luck on figuring out that null-modem cable.

If you decide to stay with AmigaBasic you might consider the ACE Basic compiler on the Aminet.  It is not particularly efficient, but it will compile some AmigaBasic programs for a little boost in speed.  There are some sample programs in the dev/basic directory on Aminet as well.  (This is also where Blitz Basic examples are stored.)
