greetings from austria
« on: August 03, 2005, 10:50:56 AM »
hi amiga.org users

is there anyone from the middle of europe around.
spezially austria, swizerland or germany ??

my personal computer history:
i think i was 12/13 years old (around 1987) when my
friend got an c64, i had a "basic for kids" book an
wrote my first programm on my friends C64. Just 10 lines
- asked for your name and how are you and said hello..
but that was it - i had a new dream! i was so faszinated
from computers and that i can programm them and they
do what i want - sorry but i was a kid ;-)
one year later i bought my first amiga together with my
dad, it was a real great computer - much better as the c64
of my friends or the lousy 386 pc's with ega monitors and
dos3.x - yeah it was an amiga 500 with kick 1.2.
later i had a 2nd floppy, 1mb ram and a star lc10c color
printer - my dad used the amiga for working - i just played and learned basic ...
some years later, in school i learned pascal on a microvax,
and i bought my first pc ( i know now that was a mistake..)
after school i work as a cad designer on vax alphastations
- that was geat hardware - i think at that time a 486/33Mhz pc with 8mb ram, 100mb harddisk and win3.0 was standard - and i had a 166mhz,256ram, 1gb harddisk machine - whow ! - i
still hate compaq for "killing" digital !!
as time passed i sold my old amiga and i had a break for
many years - and i didn't realy recognized what happend in
the amiga world.
some years ago i got an winuae emulator and i play populus
an katakis again - and i knew i need a real amiga, with
no intel/window in background
now i use an amiga1200 for writing, programming and other
stuff and i have 2 amiga500 and 2amiga2000 ,with much hardware stuff (cd, hdd-controller, bridgeboard) - this
older machines i use just for fun - playing with io boards
and epromer and so on ...

just made an adapter for my a1200 to connect it to a
vga monitor - works great !

ok, thas all
greetings

philipp
