It's a sport now, isn't it?
In today's (8/3) edition, one Rory Evans interviews Jeffrey Middleton, the illustrator for the new 11th edition of Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.
"Anything technology-related dates quickly," Middleton says. "Cars, computers, microchips -- if I were to draw an Amiga computer from 10 years ago, it would look pretty bad right now. People would giggle and point."
Appropriately enough, you can find it in the last paragraph of page 13.
(For those not familiar, the Magazine is slipped in each Sunday's Times; it's the repressed gonzo organ of the paper, mixing the fashion and food sections with weekly editorials on language, ads for real estate you can't afford, and usually at least one decent piece of photojournalism worth printing on the semigloss paper. More obviously, it's where the crossword puzzle lives.)
