Atn metalheads, go buy this album!
« on: February 17, 2004, 12:44:26 PM »
Damage Plan is the new project of ex-Pantera's Dimebag and Vinnie. Very, very good! GO BUY IT NOW!

Since I'm making recomendations, here is an album to AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have no idea why this had good revues! Most of the album was absolutely the worst crap I have ever lsitened to hands down. Track 4 "Flying" is quite good (and it is a ballad), but that is about it.

Seriously, why do people choose such horrible names for their new bands? It just seems so half-arsed.

I don't mind the name. Also just think, metal in it's current form has been around since 1970. In the 34 years that have passed pretty much all the 'cool' names have been taken. I mean shoot, only one band can ever use the name Slayer;-) YOU try to think up a name that hasn't been taken yet!

The music too, just my opinion, doesn't really go anywhere...

Yup, you're a punk guy. I'd say about the same thing about most modern punk. Execpt I'd be even more harsh about modern punk. I don't get it. Most of these bands seem to think it is all about image. Color the hair, dress like 70's punk and all of a sudden you are punk and your music is cool? i don't get it:-)

-Edit-
I didn't mean that harsh, if it sounded that way. I just don't get most punk like you probably don't get most metal. To each his own, at least it's not POP/RAP/crap/hip-hop!

Although I know Napalm Death, I don't have any of their albums (yet!), and I don't know who's in the band.  We don't get much ND coverae over here :-(

Don't get much coverage there?!? They are from the UK, and that's where they get most of their coverage! Not that it means very much, they never got much coverage;-)

Lee Dorian was part of the original lineup of ND, since then they have had over 100% turnover. There is not one original band member left. This is a good thing, the current lineup has pretty much been stable for 10+ years and is much better than the original linuep.

Umm.. it's funny, very funny.. I hear Cathedral and I laugh, I can't believe it's the same guy! Go out and get ND Scum, you will be shocked. I like it and it's definately a classic album, but to be honest Lee Dorian sounds like someone being gagged while they have a painful bowl movement. Don't even try to make out the lyrics by listening, it's not going to happen! It all sounds like grunts and groans:-P

Really? I must admit, I haven't looked at the sleevenotes of my Scum LP, but in the CD I have, which is 'From Enslavement to  Obliteration' - It has the whole of Scum on the CD, as well as FEtO plus bonus tracks - it lists Shane Embury as the bassist. In any case, he's been the bassist since 1987, but I didn't realise he didn't play bass on Scum...

Yeah really! Most people think Shane founded the band, but that is a myth. He might as well have been though, because he has been the anchor the band needs.

And yes, they are very cool people even though their politics are way far left for my view:-) I saw them in 2003 playing at a little dump hole in the wall, and before the concert Shane was walking around in front of the club mingling with the crowd. Heck in late 2001 post 9/11 after a concert date was canceled here in FL, he personally responded to a fan email I sent. They are the real deal, real down to earth people just like their fans.

I trust they failed to disappoint?

Oh, ND do not disapoint! I have only seen ND twice, once back in 1991 and then in 2003. Both times the were absolutely incredible! Back in 1991 they were opening for Sepultura on the "New Titans On The Block" tour. What a concert that was, oooh man. I was right up on the edge of the stage, with a raging pit behind me. I don't remember much, except that I enjoyed ND even more than Sepultura. Hard to remember too much when we killed several 12 packs of beer and a bottle of Jagermeister before the concert began :-o

What a change when i saw them in 2003. I was stone cold sober, and I actually remember the whole set:-D They are all very fat and balding, Barney shaved his head(and looks aweful). But they are the same ND and they kicked ass!

-Edit-
BTW if you go see Napalm in concert, buy one of their tee-shirts at the show. They really do not make a hell of alot of money with their CDs, it's a small niche market yet they do not sell out. The only place they make any monet is on tee shirt sales at the shows.
