Atn metalheads, go buy this album!
« on: February 17, 2004, 12:44:26 PM »
Damage Plan is the new project of ex-Pantera's Dimebag and Vinnie. Very, very good! GO BUY IT NOW!

Since I'm making recomendations, here is an album to AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have no idea why this had good revues! Most of the album was absolutely the worst crap I have ever lsitened to hands down. Track 4 "Flying" is quite good (and it is a ballad), but that is about it.

Feel the base! uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss, uhn-tss!

I got to admit. I keep to older stuff if I have to listen to rock. :)

When I saw that title and the poster my immediate thought was:

"That bugger, I was gonna post that!"

Then I read it's a different band you're talking about ;-)

I've been thinking about getting Damage Plan's album for a wee while, from what I've read about it, it does sound good :-)

Thatnks for the warning, but I'll be avoiding that Living Colour album anyways - I never really liked them.

Another album for you guys to buy:

Probot

Don't be put off that it's Dave Grohl's side project - it sounds nothing like the Foo's.  Each song has a different singer...

Cronos, Max Cavalera, Lemmy, Mike Dean, Kurt Brecht, Lee Dorian, Wino, Tom G Warrior, Snake, Eric Wagner and King Diamond.

It's heavy as hell!  8-)

"Damage Plan"... I dunno, it sounds like they're trying to break into the DC emo scene!

Seriously, why do people choose such horrible names for their new bands? It just seems so half-arsed. The music too, just my opinion, doesn't really go anywhere... :-?

But er, I'm a punk, what do I know about metal? he he :-D

The Foos kicked arse back in 1997... These days, they suck, oh well! But this is definitely something I'll be checking out.

I don't mind the name. Also just think, metal in it's current form has been around since 1970. In the 34 years that have passed pretty much all the 'cool' names have been taken. I mean shoot, only one band can ever use the name Slayer;-) YOU try to think up a name that hasn't been taken yet!

Yup, you're a punk guy. I'd say about the same thing about most modern punk. Execpt I'd be even more harsh about modern punk. I don't get it. Most of these bands seem to think it is all about image. Color the hair, dress like 70's punk and all of a sudden you are punk and your music is cool? i don't get it:-)

-Edit-
I didn't mean that harsh, if it sounded that way. I just don't get most punk like you probably don't get most metal. To each his own, at least it's not POP/RAP/crap/hip-hop!

Well, if you're thinking of Blink, NOFX, Rancid and their ilk, I agree with you 100%. Except that they're not punk ;-) And real punks have pretty normal hair these days. As I think I've previously indicated, I like some metal. I just happen to hate 85% of all music.

Oh, I was kinda joking with the punk guy statement. Goddamn, I hate my nickname.

  I love that song :-)

Tom had his own band Apollyon Sun (I think that's right), but I have absolutely no idea what they were like.

Ah, that would be the Cathedral Lee Dorian, I forgot about Napalm's Lee :-)

After listening to this all I keep thinking is "long live the 80s!"

The Color and the Shape was probably their best album, none of this emo-type stuff they're doing now.  Don't look at Probot as a Dave Grohl band - look at it like an 80's compilation featuring Lemmy, Cronos and the others.  Each song is different and is in the style of that singer.

It's not like getting a guest vocalist on someone else's song.

In short - if you don't like Lemmy, Cronos, Tom G Warrior, Snake or any of them, don't buy the record :-)

--edit--

Record!?!  God that makes me sound old :-D

Dude, 'Colour and the Shape' is the real emo-type stuff they did! Trust me on this :-) The new stuff is just weak pop.

Er, to elaborate... you know 'My Hero', that kinda droning guitar lead? Soundwise, that's what people used to call emo, before it became a buzz-word.

Ah right, I must be thinking of the wrong album, not the first time that's happened ;-)

Yes I do listen to Philip Glass from time to time, it's more just that I am decidedly NOT a fan of metal, punk, Pantera, emo, or anything Grohl's ever touched...but to each his own, I am all for everyone being able to enjoy whatever it is they like.
