IOSPIRIT freezes its own AMIGA-developments
« on: March 08, 2004, 01:11:58 PM »
Felix Schwarz, with immediate effect, freezes the development of fxPAINT, fxSCAN, VHI Studio and the IOUSB- and VHI-drivers. Medusa and IBrowse are external developments and thus are not affected.

All products will stay in distribution. Whether the development will be reactivated at a later point in time mainly depends on the further economical and social development of the market and the profits made with it.

The AMIGA-pages can be found at http://amiga.iospirit.de/ in the future. Although www.iospirit.de currently still redirects to this page, we nonetheless would be glad if existing hyperlinks in AMIGA-context would be adapted accordingly.

Subsequently, you'll find an open letter from Felix Schwarz to the AMIGA-community in all its occurences.

Major bummer, but I fully understand your frustration. Trust me, I hear you. Here's hoping things improve and you can start active develpment again.

I've long been impressed with Felix's work to the point of buying fxPaint even before I got a graphics card for my 4000. The two times I had a problem with fxPaint, and the only problems I ever had were installation, were answered as promptly as possible by Felix himself.

He's an absolute stand up guy with a lot of talent. It would be great if he could keep up Amiga developement but what he states makes perfect sence. It's been way too long since Commodore went bankrupt with no real innovation. I have my hopes for the new Amiga and still use my old machine (mainly thanks to fxPaint which is nothing short of awesome). I hope the end of the year goes well and I can look forward to upgrading to fxPaint 3.0.

Best of luck to you, Felix.

The sad thing here is that I didn't know much about fxPAINT but now after reading about it, I want it.  I just thought of iBrowse.

There is still hope for the future at least, but that has been said before.   :-D

This is a sad sad day for the Amiga. :-(

Sod the lawsuits and {bleep}ing, this is all it leads to.

Wow, that open letter to the Amiga community is a good read.  I don't develop, but I'm with Red in understanding the frustration.

I must be slow, only now discovered the new smilies.

Lets see, should I buy  :juggler: an A1 or not?
