Workbench Menu system?
« on: April 27, 2016, 06:48:07 PM »
Hi All,I am using AmiDock on my workbench and when it is open it uses 200K chip ram.  Some programs I use do not allow me to get back to WB and iconify it.  So is there a decent working, easy to install menu system for the Amiga that will save me most of that ram?
Also on the RAR question I did mean on the Amiga and appreciate the feedback.
Thanks, Brad Hansen

Do you want a dock, or do you want a menu system?  They're two different things.

If you want a replacement dock program for AmiDock (that might use less memory), there's some good suggestions in this thread:  http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=63532

Hi punkyclown,

As acill said Magic Menu should do the job.

Magic Menu ver 2.3 works on all my Amigas.

See  https://sourceforge.net/projects/magicmenu/

For Magic Menu.

And

To enhance that there is also Tools Daemon.

See  http://ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/boot/ToolsDaemon22.lha

The above ToolsDaemon has been worked for use with AOS ver 3.9 however it works fine on AOS ver 3 and 3.1

Try "ToolMenu" from the aminet. Pull it into WBStartup, and create a drawer named "ToolMenu" in SYS: (i.e. your system partition). Every icon you draw into this drawer will appear in the workbench menu, and can be started from there.

Hope this is what you looking for...

@punkyclown,

I seem to remember running into a RAR file. I vaguely recall using ixemul to do it.

Thomas, "ToolMenu" is a winner! Perfect for what I was looking for.
Thanks to all for the advice.
