Title: ADoom FPS too low?
Post by: arttu80 on April 01, 2024, 07:52:46 PM
Hello!

I'm wondering, what is realistic FPS number on ADoom when playing on 50MHz A4000/060(no FPU)? I have ZZ9000 card with latest P96 drivers... Currently I'm getting only 8-12 FPS even on lowest res modes. Needless to say, its a disappointing number to me. Anyone to help with this?

When you say lowest modes. Which mode are you trying?

I’m using ADoom with the prefs set to: 320x240 - 8bit and using the C2P as 68040+ via my Picasso IV RTG.

On a PiStorm on a A1200 with a overclocked Pi4 using a Mediator, P96 and a Voodoo3 I can get decent FPS with 640x480 - 16Bit.

Yes, I'm referring to something like 320by240 modes. But there is no significant slowdown nor improvement even in higher screen modes. The whole point of my question is that I want to know how much FPS to expect from my system.

I get around 20 FPS or above. Using RTG and what I have mentioned with Icomps P96 3.4.1 version.

How have you setup your ADoom Prefs? Have you tried a C2P file?

Why do people always run such old Doom ports on an 060 AGA?

Try something slightly newer like BOOM, ZDOOM or ODAMEX.

All of the above are also ported to RTG of course..
