>SIS 630 S chipset

This "Intergrated / System on Chip / SOC" low cost chipset is a total CRAP.

The intergrated video performance is very poor and there is NO LINUX audio driver. There are problems with LAN / Network portion of the chipset.

This chipset is only used in low cost PC and the PC vendor try to cut cost by using this chipset.

Several LINUX programmers / group try to get the documentation for audio portion of the chipset, but SIS ignored them.

HAHAHAHAHAH!

Yes, this is just prepackaged $#@!e that was introduced, and quickly dropped from sight over a year and a half ago.

However, at least its up to date hardware pretty much, and will run Amithlon.

Though, for all the Amiga geniuses here, I'm surprised none of you noticed it will only run the QNX version.

And you guys call Windows users Lusers......

This sucks. It's not an Amiga, just an emulator!

I've been a regular Amiga.org reader for many years, and remember the site coming under criticism for too many "so-and-so just released this great, new technology..will Amiga be able to use it, too?" posts.  Lately I've been seeing another trend...silly PC articles like ths one and "Intel Unveils Plans for New Pentium 4".  Who gives a #*%& !?  Maybe Amiga.org knows their audience, but if they do, I must be a black sheep.  Lately I'm finding amiganews.de, ann.lu, and some other European boards a lot more fun and informative, and also less PC-biased.

As an ex amiga user, can I ask a silly question,
What about software?.
It's all very well having an updated A1200 or whatever, But its still a A1200.
Way out of date and no new software.
So, unless you can do something with it 'out of the box' so what.
Its software that counts.

I dont think Amiga.org is PC Biased. If that was so, you would hardle see Amiga news at all, if at all...

I think amiga.org has just become less Amiga biased, which is good. Many of us use Windows, Linux and other Operating system on x86. A lot of people like x86.

So yes, you must be a black sheep. Infact, i dont even own an amiga... infact, i have a 500 that is gathering dust, but i dont use it! :)

so you see, i think you are a black sheep :)

This is a big no-no: These products are not officially licensed from Amiga Inc., and therefore the company producing them is using the Amiga brand illegally.

Not a good thing at all.

(But they do have nerve, that's for sure.)

It seems they have done a deal with Amiga so they can use the Amiga name.

Anyway, it's just an emulator running OS3.9!
Not much future in that, but maybe a good short term soloution for those who need their 68K aplications?

A1 / OS4 is just around the corner, who wants emulation...? ;-)

Best regards

I'd have to agree with Mr. Ersking.  I've been scrounging around for different upgrades / solutions for my aging A1200, and settling for a warmed over Pee Cee just doesn't cut it. I'm holding out for the A1 w/OS4.  At least it will be a real Amiga.  It seems that some of people  forget that the Amiga solution is a full integration of hardware and software, and an emulater running a foriegn board will certainly lose a lot of the same efficiency that made the origional miggies what they were.
Yup, I'm holding out for the real thing! :-D

According to Amiga, Inc. they are *not* licensed. Like I said "big no-no".

Besides, not even being an updated A1200, that has the possibility of harming the sales and confusing old time users. NOT GOOD.
An updated A1200 like PPC Amiga would be welcome though. A semilaptop thing, an hybrid. Something cool that has been lost.

Hmm I know what they're trying to do and I can't blame them, there is a small market for these 'wanna-be Amigas'.

I like the sort of compact style, but couldn't you just build yourself one for half the price (...and better spec) to run XL on?

Another thing, i'm getting WELL annoyed with people calling their products names with 'X' in !

Theres X-box, XP, OS X, XL and now Amiga X1200????

It seems they are trying to give their product a mysterious theme but just seems unoriginal and very outdated.

......... off to watch the X-files after a game of project-X  :-D

no it's not going to fool the remaining market....the remaining market is savvy users...and they will all ignore this crap.

It's only a pc and nothing more.

This isn't a legitimate company, its just some loser working out of his bedroom, like 'Merlancia Industries.'  Ha, ha, you all will swear that wasn't fair, but it is.

Stick with companies that have proven histories.     Companies like Amiga, Inc., Hyperion, Eye-tech....they do have histories of getting things done.  Mind you, not a whole lot, mostly ports and rereleases of other peoples product, or in the case of eye-tech reselling hardware...but its more than nothing and about the best we got.

This announcement is NOTHING.   If I want a pc, I'll buy one on my own thank you.
