Are you sure you are talking about the same model?
This was a machine without a separate CPU, instead it would have either the CIA and other logic chips (or the AGA chips themselves) integrated with an 030 core onto the same die.
It was only discussed at a developers conference AFAIK.

Best I can tell, the addons package for Opalvision was named the Opalvision Video Processor. This is the label added to the box containing a beta unit that I have.

This consisted of an Opalvision, Roaster chip for the Opalvision boards empty chip socket, the Framebuffer card that attaches to the Opalvision, a fan to cool them that blows through a hole on the daughtercard over the roaster chip (I think, been a long time since I've taken that out of the box).

In truth, Vaporware should be limited to items actually announced as being prepared for sale to consumers. The Opalvision Video Processor definately qualifies. I think they were even taking orders for this before it slipped beneath the waves. Internal prototypes and devemopment systems, though we might wish they had been completed and sold, are not technically vapor.

There had to be smoke for there to be vapor.

But all in all, an interesting and informative list.

What about the SX-32 Mk-II Pro?
(The pro version was supposed to have an integrated mpeg decoder.)
That was also announced but never materialized.

How about various Amiga transputer expansions (and systems)? I guess none of them were publically released. Not sure though... Anyway, I remember reading an article in an old finnish mag long ago, and it sure seemed quite interesting, but I couldn't help wondering why I hadn't heard / read of them before (as it was an old mag) - close enough to "Vapor" to me :-)

See for example this one:

Search http://www.amiga-hardware.com with "transputer" to find more.

The same for BoXer...

I'm sorry, but the BoXer *IS* and will always be vapor. I don't f*ucking care if there are "prototypes", 'cos I'm owed one and Anti-Gravity ran off with my pre-order money.

I lost my OS4 preorder money twice over (preordered two copies), and I still like my OS4!  And, I did get ONE t-shirt....  I was pretty insulted that I didn't get the second one, although I was surprised to get one at all especially because they didn't have my current address.

Thanks for reminding me!! I added the "I Am Amiga" Coupon to the vapor list.

Hmm.. does that count as hardware :-?

-edit-
Naah, I've removed it. Not hardware.

Heh I made it on the list with project Alpha.

But why is Siamese on there unless you mean the PCI Amiga card which was dropped by Gateway and was not Siamese it would have used the Siamese software if the hardware had been delivered.

Still IMICA is complete :-)

I like this list though.
Amiga 1000/3000, iMica Silent and NVidia Aros computer.

Lets enjoy the Amigas future, THIS year is 25th Anniversary lets make it special.

How about GVP 4MB simms for the gforce040/A3000. The board shipped with 1mb simms, and advertised 4mb as coming soon. Would have been very sweet as the board used 40ns non-multiplexed ram, mmmmmm....

The Roaster chip is certainly not vaporware, I have seen an Opalvision with the Roaser chip working in Argentina about ten years ago.

What was the Roaster to have done?
Back away from the EU-SSR!

Yeah, as Pyromania said it was suppose to have similar functionality as the Video Toaster.

Quote
optional Video Processor and Roaster Chip adds a wealth of additional features and functionality including:
-framegrabbing, genlocking, chroma keying, luma keying, realtime colour processing of live video
-provides an unlimited number of transitions and digital video effects including cuts, wipes, fades, special organic effects (soft- or hard edged), infinite range of flips, tumbles, page peels, image wrapping, picture in picture effects and more 24 bit 35 ns character generator

I believe these are photos of the Roaster (looks like an entire board that plugs in not just a chip)

There was also suppose to be the Opal Vision Video suite:

-a 19 inch rack mountable unit which includes video and audio mixing, switching and transcending connects directly to the Video Processor
-24 bit frame store
-nine video and ten audio inputs
-professional quality video inputs and outputs are available simultaneously in RGB or Y / R-Y / B-Y, composite and S-Video
-linear transparency key provides transparency control between two video sources on a pixel by pixel basis
-fully software sequenced audio mixer with smooth fades and full 5 band stereo frequency equalization
