I hold that this has, without question, the very finest synthesizer solo ever recorded. (And a damn fine song to boot.)

Synthesizers: Roland JX-10/MT-32/D-10, Oberheim Matrix-6, Yamaha DX7/FB-01, Korg MS-20 Mini, Ensoniq Mirage/SQ-80, Sequential Circuits Prophet-600, Hohner String Performer

Jeez man, you seem to be tapping from my old record collection left and right!!!!

I actually kept all my old 70's YES albums not just for the musick, but for the giant prints of Roger Dean's art work!

Yes is still good, but it is rare that they put out an album anymore that comes anywhere near the brilliance of their 70's work.

Yeah, I'm big into classic prog. I think it has to do with my dad being a classical music buff and thus my being exposed to it quite a lot, and then getting into classic rock later and finding this at pretty much the intersection of the two ;)

I need to take a listen to Fly From Here, I wasn't aware that it had been released until just now. Nice to hear that they're getting back into longer works, though I'm not sure how I feel about Benoit David.

I do have to say though that the studio stuff on the Keys to Ascension albums is easily the best they've put out since Drama. "That, That Is" in particular:

Drama was by far one of the best YES albums EVER!!! Even though it lacked Anderson, it turned out a LOT better than what I believe a lot of fans are willing to adapt to.

On that note, it was kind of a nice change of pace to have a darker themed Yes album.

On the subject of Anderson, it is very sad to see he is no longer with the band. I always kind of thought of him as the Richard Simmons of the musick industry...

...a quirky character, yet very very talented and uplifting! Proof that a man can maintain a feminine balance and still not be gay! And inspiration for men everywhere me think! :)

One of my favorite of their later works has got to be the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe album. Great DVD too!

Sounds like Anderson himself isn't too happy about it either :/ Internal politics can be an ugly thing. But then, they've pulled back together from bigger splits before, so here's hoping...

According to the Wiki he's been sick, though one can't always depend upon the wiki so...

What have you heard?

He had some respiratory issues or other and couldn't be there for most of their 2009 tour, so they brought in David to perform in his place. Sounds like he's been getting better and wanted to get back into things, but apparently they must've been getting on well with David, as they started recording an album with him instead of Anderson; Anderson's said he was a little hurt by that. But they've had squabbles before (the whole "Big Generator" Yes/ABWH split that lead into Union, for example,) so hopefully this won't be anything cataclysmic.

Speaking of Anderson, look at this link, then look at the price:

He's on it btw. :)

Ya...

these two tracks are how they suckered me into buying two of their albums. My two most favorite Rush albums at that. :)
