Well,

if I go over informations and see ToolTypes I see a "," before DEVICE=scsi3.device .
I removed the semicolon and started the HDTools ,made scan and can olnly see PIC 0 TID 6 LUN 0  STATUS Unsupported.

I tried this with a Quantum of 128 MB and an IBM 4,330 MB!

PS: What KS are you using. Here I am using KS2.0 but in the floppy install disk of this Card that I translated few minutes ago( that is all in German ) I read KS 1.3!!! ???

Can you click the setup drive button or is it greyed out?
If it's greyed out, you probably can't prep it with hdinstools.

Try again with hdtoolbox. Make sure the following is in the tooltypes of hdtoolbox:
SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi3.device

That's probably because the install disk contains a version of WB1.3.

To make it clear, I don't have a golem scsi card myself.
Because I'm trying to help you out, I checked out the install disk and that's how I figured out that the Golem device driver is named scsi3.device.

BTW Amiga hardware database says that harddisks greater that 2 GB can't be prepped with the installation floppy, and that in such a case HDToolbox must be used.

Hi,

into the tooltypes there is DEVICE=scsi3.device and note SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi3.device.

And Setup Drive is in grey.... :(

What a pity...don't know what to do!

however I do not have words to express what I am for your kindness and willingness to help. thanks indeed!

No problem !

But the tooltype for HDToolbox should be:

SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi3.device. Please remove the DEVICE=scsi3.device.

DEVICE=scsi3.device is the tooltype for HDInstools.

Almost fine,

we are make some little steps further ...
Even if the drives is marked as unknow I have the possibility to see some letters and Partition is not grey. But the problem is that if I try to define a new drive and read configurations from the drive it says that:

Drive does not support the SCSI Inquiry Command!

if I put some values and try to define the drive by myself what happen? All seems fine and it says that the HD is 20 MB. Maybe I was wrong when i told you it is 180MB and when I save the configuration I got an error and if I Exit it says that I would loose datas but after rebbot I cannot see any HD to format on my WB.

What type of quantum drive is it? Can you look on the disk to see if there is any more info on it? Maybe if you know the exact type of the drive you can search with google to find some info about the sectors, blocks per track etc.

BTW have you tried also with the 4GB drive?

Don't know what more can we do!

Do you think if I use the Install Floppy of the Card and KS1.3 I would fix it?

I doubt it. The Golem partitioning program also wouldn't read the drives configuration, that's why you got all the question marks when you tried.

Like I said, look if there's any info on the harddisk itself. For example, I have an old quantum scsi hd lying around, and it has a sticker on it that says: Quantum ProDrive LPS and on the side there is a little sticker with 105 s on it. If I do a google search with this info, I get a link to a site that gives me info about the drives geometry (sectors/heads etc).
Because HDToolbox can't read the info from the drive, you have to enter these values manually, so any more info about the drive type is welcome.

Also you can try and see if HDToolbox recognizes the ibm 4gb harddisk correctly.

I have just tried with the 4GB HD and the ToolBox give me the same errors of the Quantum. I see -3 error mosto of times. Maybe the Card is broken?

I don't think the card is broken. You just have to know what values to enter when you install the harddisk.

Ok... I am going to find more information about the Quantum but what I wonder is that would be useless for the 4GB bcoz on the HD I have all the info and cannot be read by the HDToolBox!

What do you mean. You have info about the blocks per track, heads and sectors of the 4gb drive?
If so, then you have to manually enter these values if you press the install drive button.

Just read on the Amiga hardware database that the Golem does not support the complete SCSI protocol. I wonder if that's the reason why you can't read the harddisks configuration when you try to install the drive.

To be honest, I really think this card isn't of much use. The scsi controller of the a2000 is much better.

If you still want to make it work with your harddisks, you have to provide some more info about the drives.

It may be a little late for the TS, but I have this board working.
You need to set your harddisk to:

SCSI Term. on
Disable unit attn
Disable Parity

Set SCSI Term. off when you also have something else on the SCSI line, like a CDROM or ZIP drive, set that one to SCSI termination in stead of the harddisk.

scsi3.device is the way to go but the partitioning program is quite bad. Anyway it does work, that's the most important. Also make your 1st partition not too big (preferably < 900MB) when you run KS 1.3. On KS 2.04 I had no problems with a 2.1GB partition, but kept the 1st under 1GB anyway.
