Hello! new to the amiga August 2006
« on: December 01, 2006, 03:14:27 AM »
I joined a while ago but didnt feel like posting until now.
I've collected older computers for awhile now mostly 68k macs though I do have a C64, 2 atari 800xl, 2 apple //e, and some old PCs.

This last August I posted a wanted ad on freecycle for just older commodore/apple/atari computers and some one replied with 2 amigas. I've since gotten them, they are:
Amiga 1000 with 512k of ram, and external floppy drive
Amiga 500 with 2mb of ram, an a570, and a 68010 instead of a 68000

I have no software other than the kickstart and workbench 1.1 disk for the 1000 and a workbench 1.3 disk for the 500, and some failing amiganews disks. I havent been able to use the 500 because of my lack of PSUs for the a500 and it's a570

Hi There,

How can you not have tons of software?
Aminet has quite a bit for free downloading, also for the older computers you might want to check out the Fred Fish collection under Misc.
Lots of fun and useful stuff.
I never met an Amiga I didn\\\'t like..

I'm not sure if you can transfer files with a null modem cable to the WB1.3 machine, but it might be worth looking into.

It looks like might need to find someone nearby with a real Amiga to set you up with the initial disks for null modem transfers. There's also something called Messy Dos
http://aminet.net/disk/misc/msh-156.lha, but you will still need a disk set up for you from a real Amiga.
Maybe there is a local user group.
