Greetings all
« on: June 23, 2006, 01:17:04 PM »
Just want to say what a pleasure it is to be using Amigas again. Spent most of my teenage years on an A500 then went to Windows, Playstation, Apple and back to Amiga. Still can't believe how crappy Windows is even now! My Mac is ok but nothing beats the Amiga for quick booting and real multitasking. And as good as Gran Turismo is I'm still determined to do a full 200 lap Indy 500 race without crashing! If Sony can make the Playstation backward compatible and Apple are using Intel chips can't someone make an Intel based new Amiga that is also backward compatible?

A500+ 2.0 1.5meg,A570

A1200 3.0 6meg
A1200 3.0 16meg blizzard 1230,580MB HD

Greetings! Welcome to A.org!

What sort of Amiga do you have?

As for a new Intel-based Amiga... The likelihood of that is very remote and has been covered on a number of threads.

Anyway, if you've not seen it, any recent version of WinUAE does a very good job of emulating the Amiga on Windows, or you could get hold of the Amiga Forever package for a fully licensed solution with tonnes of extras...

Have fun!

Welcome!

And now it's time to increase the good-taste-persons counter by one :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, my amiga collection is as follows
A500 1.2 1meg with dodgy internal drive
A500 1.3 1meg
A2000 1.3/2.04 with 2 external drives, A2630 (4meg ram), A2320 running a PC monitor, Supra ram board (6meg total but configured for 4) and a 40meg harddrive.
A1200 3.0 by Commodre with 4meg fast ram.
A1200 3.0 ESCOM with a Blizzard 1230 and 40meg HD.

I almost got my hands on an A1000 but thanks to ebays tardy response time during bidding I missed out :-(
I'd like to get a faster accelerator card for the A2000, put WB2.0 on the A500, accelerate it and get an FPU for the Blizard. Basically do all the stuff I could never afford before :-) .
A500  1.2
A500  1.3 1meg
A500+ 2.0 1.5meg,A570
A2000 1.3/2.0 9meg,A2630,A2320,40MB HD
A1200 3.0 6meg

Hehe! Wow, an original 1.2 machine that wasn't upgraded to 1.3 - must be quite difficult to find those these days!

I've got a 1.2 A500 that I bought 2nd hand.

In fact all the A500s that I've ever used were 1.2 (and a couple A500+ with 2.x)
