Title: Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 on a PowerMac G4 Dual 450
Post by: ami_junki on November 07, 2008, 12:15:19 AM
Ez all, I was wondering, at the moment my main computer is a PowerMac G4 Dual 450 as a I am a poor {bleep}, it only has 512mb of ram, it is running 10.4.11 at the moment but I was wondering how much of a speed boost would I get running 10.3 and would it be more worthwhile to run it on my machine?

Cheers!

You're running the best option for your machine in my opinion - 10.4 was an improvement over 10.3 in terms of efficiency, although it did add more.

More RAM would be the best option to improve performance. In addition search online for instructions to disable Dashboard.

In addition the forums at MacRumors.com or AppleInsider.com might provide some more in-depth answers to your question...

Yea, Dashboard is annoying. I'm suprised that there's no easy option to turn it off. I've never used it for anything.
