Urgent call to all dizzy fans
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:40:17 AM »
Anyone remember the classic Dizzy games?

A game called Spud's Quest that tributes them is being funded on Kickstarter, and the project has the backing of the creators of Dizzy, the Oliver twins

Only 7 days left to save it!

I liked dizzy, even if not my favorite series of games I'll drop 30 buck's for the sake of it after work :)

Huh... Windows only, it says. Bad, bad mr programmer. A good game for a BAD OS I don't even have at home is not good!

This makes me wonder: I suposse (I could be wrong) most players who can appreciate these games are somewhat technical skilled, tinkerers, etc.. So why those indie developers choose Windows as a target? Most interested people would be using Linux on the desktop and Android on the phone.
Enslaved or captive Windows users are always consuming the latest technology, ultra-hires 3D graphics and all that nonsense.

Actually it says Windows to start. Then iOS, XNA and Android later.

Because 90% of casual desktop/laptop gamers run Windows as their main OS?

Linux users... are there any?? Android & iOS I agree. Far more likely to get casual users spending $2 or so on a game like this on a mobile platform than on a Windows PC

Also , dont know about everyone, but I personally find XNA very good at what it does

I was thinking that wasn't very much for a commercial game!

6 man years work + overheads (building rent/heating/electricity + computers depreciation + software tool licenses etc.)

If it all gets covered with £350k then they must be very low paid that's all I can say!

Well, I guess.. but isnt kickstarter meant for.. kickstarting projects? As in, not totally financing them? Surely they will make more money than this from sales afterwards?

(I havent read the description very well I must admit)

I cannot help but notice rvo_nl in your signature there where you showing off your A1200. THere is one item missing in your collectable item.....USB.

I have no need for USB :) And currently the only thing I need is a way to get my system up&running again. But there's a few threads on my issues already :)
