Hi m8 !!!

Oh yes, We have about 99.5% of all Amiga viruses in our collection. And that this time only the Virus Test Center in Hamburg, Germany and Virus Help Denmark has this big a collection, but it is in safe hands, no one can get hold of them  :-D   I have my collection on two ZIP disks in a bank-box   :-P

Oh yes, some viruses are very bad, and are very hard to make a 'cure' for, but so far the antivirus programmers has been able to do all of them. And please all remember, that every antivirus program for the Amiga is FREEWARE, non of the antivirus programmers are getting monney of doing this. And they all have fulltime work, next to there antivirus programming. A man like  Georg Hoermann - VirusZ has been around for well over 13 years, and are still programming for the Amiga. Nice eh.... ????

Kind regards
Jan Andersen

I ment....it's bad that there haven't been any new virii for so long. Says something about the state of the Amiga  software market =(, i.e. nonexistant.

Just be shure to make a copy of the disks before you try to remove any viruses sometimes the Viruskiller deletes files, and then the program won't work.
If you have ghosts you have everything

Roky rulz!!!

I remember reading somewhere, can't remember where, that write-protection simply doesnt protect at all.
It's just a softwareswitch saying that you can't write to the disk.
But a virii, or nonvirii, programmer can go around it and yet write on a writeprotected disk..

due to the switch not changing anything in the hardware..

(forgive me for the poor output, im tired, words are flying in my mind, and ive just turned 19)

Yes , i read that is possible.
(but probably safe to ignore)

What is improbable ( i read once ) is for a virus to reside in the clock (mem-bat?) memory.

I remember that i once had GREAT problems with a
UNKNOWN program that kept crashing my machine.
This was a long time ago , I used my write protected
, original  wb disks, and i had  4 mb accelerator with
onboard clock ( for my 1200 ).
I never did find the Virus.
But , i can tell you, that when i reset the battery on the accelerator, all was fine...

Can anybody tell me i made this up?
 :-D

AFAIK the write protect switch will make it physically impossible to write. But I could be wrong...

@vht-dk
Gotta say 2 things..
 1. A big thanks to you and all the VHT guys for keeping my amigas virus free over the years. I only ever found 3 virii ( and they were found before I installed or ran the infected files.)

2. Could you make virus checking more exciting?
It`s a bit boring watching the scanning process..maybe add some dancing sheep to watch instead ;-)

Hi all again !!

I'm gonna try to reply to all in this  :-P

This roumor about a virus survining in the battery of the clock has been going on for over 10 years, and we have never see in, so it is just a hoax.

If you write-protect your floppy disk, it is impossible is is impossible to write to  the disk. We have never seen ay program that can "out-run" the write-protection.

And Doobrey you must have an anti-virus program running i the back when you found the virus before installing, or do U check all software before installing it ?.  But that is very good.
:-D Playing a game while checking for virus. I can remember that there once was a antivirus progarm, where you could play 'Tetris' when checking for virus, but I'm sorry to say that the program is outdated now    :-(   (But it was fun)

And thanx for the kind words... I'll pass them on to the real heros, the programmers....

Kind regards

@vht-dk
I usually just virus check all new software before I install it. I also regularly run a full HD check just in case! (especially when new xvs libs are available)

I recenty had to repair an ex-girlfriends PC.. I couldn`t believe it, riddled with viruses and trojans. I asked her what Antivirus she used, she said "what does an antivirus do?", and the question about firewalls left her with a blank look on her face!

I`m seriously beginning to believe that there should be a "computer license", to stop stupid people from being able to use  computers.

Good plan to virus check software which comes from an unknown source.
In particular I've heard of a lot of pirated disks containing A500
bootlock virus, etc.

I know what you mean about the "computer licence" idea :-)
I used to work for a communications company who also sold cellphones,
cordless phones, faxes, etc.
We used to get so many moron customer complaints due to people not
reading instruction manuals, or who were generally just too thick to
use something.  That was particularly the case with fax machines.

We thought of having an "IQ rating" on all equipment, where
a customer's IQ would have to exceed that of the equipment's rating.

Of course that would have meant we'd hardly ever sell anything....
