MCHC912B32CFUE8 What is it? what can it be used for?

I have 110 of these ICs, but I'm wondering what they could potentially be used for, as I have no idea... :p

have not seen these in a long time. HC11 + HC12's. 8mhz 8bit microcontrollers.

potentially, what you can do winth an arduino.. just another 8bit microcontroller. two 8bit regs A+B, and two 16bit reg, X + Y.... pretty basic stuff. like old 6502's or 6809

no. junk em.

They still cost $20 or so each from Digikey/Element 14/Mouser.

edit: there also appears to be a seller on ebay who has sold 9 in the past few months, so they must be of some use for something?

They are basically a microcontroller.  You should probably sell them on ebay if you know that they are working.

You could probably sell them on forums for people interested in electronics.

You could also start a hobby, buy some jumper wires, a breadboard, some LEDs, an LCD, etc., and program them to perform a function.

I have about six different microcontrollers.  To me that microcontroller has 32K flash memory so it is not a lot of memory to me but it is just a general function microcontroller.

Why would you buy microcontrollers that you have no use for?

I didn't buy them, they were dead stock I acquired ;)

They're still in a vacuum sealed antistatic bag.

If you wanted to start a business, you could actually make more money with them.

An Arduino microcontroller is about $30 and the chip is only five or six dollars.

All you need to do is breadboard it, write some tutorials, make a development board using Eagle, Diptrace, etc., and then you have a product to sell.

Look what some of these clowns charge for a development board:

It is only a 1 inch by 1.6 in board and they want $25 for it.
