Hi.
I'm not certain what else I can try.
I have an A4000D here with A3640 doughterboard but it has a 68060 mounted.
It's running Amiga OS 3.9BB2.
When I start a WHDLoad game it starts, but after a few seconds it freezes where I can only make a reset.
With Elite for example, I can see the Elite spashscreen, showing the Cobra MK3, etc. but it just hangs there. All games I tried are like that.
I have tried a number of WHDLoad options, like MMU, NOMMU (which doesn't really work on 68060), NOVBRMOVE, NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, etc.
But nothing helps.
What could this be?

Do you have a TCP stack running, USB running, or a GVP Spectrum graphics card? All of those things have been known to cause conflicts on some systems. Also I would make sure you're using the latest version of WHDLoad, slave files from a known-good source, and have everything properly installed.
Beyond that, sometimes you just gotta play around with the options a bit. Good luck! :)

on my A1200 I got it working after I disabled my USB stack (Poseidon) but on my A4000 with CS-MKIII I had the same issues as asrael22...game woud start and then hang and the only thing I was able to do was use the Quit key to get back to WB..I eventually ended up using my A1200 for my gaming/WHDLoad machine

I have Roadshow installed. But I have to manually activate it.
Also USB is installed, but it's also not loaded by default.
Graphics card is a Picollo-SD64 card.
It would really be great if I could get it working on that machine.
The slaves and WHDLoad itself is OK. The same games work properly on other Amigas.
Well, I guess I have to try some more.

I can't get back to WB. The system seems hang really. I can only do reboot.

Interestingly I just had a game from Amiga Forever that came with a WHDLoad version 15.x, and I just got a black screen but could quit with the QUIT key.
The same game using the latest WHDLoad version just froze, no quitting possible.

Hi.
Graphics card is a Picollo-SD64 card.
Problem with GVP Spectrum and whdload is not a card itself, it is Picasso96. It generates same problem than TCP/IP and USB stacks. It doesn happen with every RTG card. My xPert Merlin doesn't have any problems with WHDLoad games.
I know have (not in use currently) GVP SPectrum, it works nicely with WHDLoad if CyberGraphX is used.
Piccolo also uses Cirrus Logic chips, not same than Spectrum but could it be reason for problem?

Is it a pal game, you may have to set the Amiga 4000 for pal, I use Software Huts degrader package, works, but sometimes you may have to play with it for hours to figure it out. Like with Arctic Fox it was memory, then it was Floppy Drive speed timing, (yeah thats right rotten to the core EA checks for the speed of your drive, and then for extra drives) expansion cards, graphics cards and the OS, don't even think of running this game on OS 2.0 or higher, plus it checks for NTSC. I set memory for 256 K. So copy protection is a big bug for the Amiga. I once had a saying, "if it has copy protection, I will find a way to break it and copy it" but won't waste my money on it, all the stuff I purchased had no protection. I do the same for PC computers, but today most of their stuff is sold on Steam and I belong to them.

OK. A simple test. Removed the monitor driver from devs restarted and then the games work.
So it seems to be the Picasso96 thingy.
Unfortunate, but I can live with this. At least I know how to make it work.
Thanks,
Manfred

There is a CyberGraphX driver for Piccolo use it! You can forget problem after that.

What version of picasso96 are you using?
When i ran with a proemetheus setup with a voodoo 3 i had to use this version of picasso to get whdload to work.

When I had that problem, I found that I would need to install very old version of Picasso96. But trying unofficial version woun't cost anything.

interesting as I didn't have my RTG card installed and had basically the same issue ?

Yeah, I'm using that one. 2.1e.

Hmm. I would. The only problem is that CyberGraphX still seems to be sold, hence it's not free to download, or?

Nobody has it stock. Checked amigakit, vesalia and few others. EAB fileserver seems to have it.
CyberGraphiX 3 is free, you can found it from aminet.

Did you try changing the P96 settings like if you have them enabled, Planes to Fast, Disable Amiga Blitter, and so on?
-
Did you set the Maxtransfer value of your HD partitions at 00x01fe00?
If you didn't set this value, then you couldn't run any WHDLoad Games.
I had this issue 17 years ago with my Blizzard 1260.
Two years ago I also bought an Amiga 4000 and put a 3640 card with 040-060 adapter and Full 68060 processor and I can start WHDLoad games without any issues.

The games work on the same machine when the Picasso display driver is not loaded.
So I assume that maxtransfer is OK.

No, I haven't checked those.

I can say that with CyberGraphX it works.
The WHDLoad games run OK when started from RTG workbench screen.

See the last page on this thread for some additional info on the GVP Spectrum, especially the bit from the WHDLoad manual I quoted in comment #29, and THoR's comment # 30.

I seem to remember having the same issue with my BlizzardPPC060 and graphics card with p96, I think it was being caused my an env variable, possible either related to loading graphics into fast ran or enabling 44KHz audio over the onboard audio chip or possibly both.
As my A1200 Tower and BlizzardPPC card are in storage I cant test that just at the moment. But It may be worth checking the amiga guide help file for p96.
Or you can just stick with CyberGraphiX which seemed to be quite good when I had my BlizzardVision , but I needed to swap over to p96 when I got my Voodoo3 card, and that's when the real problems started trying to play WHDLoad games.

OK. I'm reading there that the Picollo obviously make such an Interrupt as well, hence either I'm reverting to P96 below 1.36 or use CGFX.

CGFX supports screen dragging. It's not bad at all.

Wasn't Jens / Individual Computers supposed to take over sole distribution of this a year or so back? Or was that P96? Eh, a lot of talk and then nothing. Typical Amiga product announcement. :(

I think Jens acquired P96. I haven't heard any news about CGX in probably close to a decade...
