Game Master System is cool :-)
« on: February 02, 2014, 03:02:52 PM »
I got the permission to include "Game Master System" in next version of "Aros Vision". Based on it is the AMOS extension "The game extension".

A short example and screenshots are here:
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=38683&forum=27

G Init Gms
G screen open 0,320,256,256,lowres
G Load IFF "clown.pic",0
G Wait Lmb
G reset

Opens AGA screen with 256 colors

Considering the age of the machine spec, the image is still very good Quality. Pretty inspirational for the day.

Chris

The extension supports BOBs and Sprites, Doublebuffering and much more. And all with AGA screens.

Yes, a perfect reproduction of an AGA screen. This is excellent! However, think of the original hardware it was made for, can any other machine of the day touch that?

Chris

You mean in 1992? PC with VGA were able to (one of the reasons why the Amiga finally lost.

GMS can be treated as freeware and used for projects

But it's just a 320x256 256 color AGA screen. Don't see what's so special about that.

It supports even Graphic Cards and much more. I only showed it because you just need a couple of commands to show a AGA (256 colors) picture with AMOS (and AMOS does not officially support AGA). The special is that you can do it with AMOS commands and only a handful of commands. And that the "Games Master System" is now freeware and can be used for projects (in almost any language). Special enough?

I wasn't referring to the software, but to the comment of someone else who said that the image quality is impressive for the machine specs. Using AGA in Amos is special, opening an AGA screen on AGA isn't ;)

I see
