Title: SIN
Post by: ruffneck on January 16, 2003, 03:54:01 PM
News in May, 2001: Hyperion Software finished Amiga port of SiN from Activision
"SiN is finished but the current hardware is not powerful enough to do it justice so we are holding back release until the Amiga One ships. Especially the lower-end Blizzard boards can't cope with the CPU power required."

So with AmigaONE we will have Sin too?

Indeed you are correct.
But back then (2 years ago) the AmigaOne was expected to ship with OS4.

Sin will probably be released when OS4 becomes available (a matter of months not years).

Let me check the book...

... Here's the review: (Err, could have sworn I read it just recently, in a compilation of reviews by Future Publishing.)

Have Hyperion actually updated their site recently?  All of the news seems to stop near the end of 2001.

It would make a nice "pack in" game for OS4.  :)

But seriously, I hope they do release it then.

Hyperion is probably too busy to update their website properly.  Maybe they should invest in a simple weblog kind of thing.  You know, like Vapor's .plan.  It wouldn't be a bad idea for Eyetech, bplan, and Genesi to do the same.

Even if it's nothing more than "We found this great new brand of coffee today," the idea is to see that these companies aren't dead.  Of all of the various Amiga coding groups, companies, etc, the guys at Vapor seem to have been the ones showing the most life.  Well, until recently.

You guys do know that Vapor's Contact-Manager is now open-source?

Only to be seen by registered owners of their Ports.

If you have an A1 now and you can't wait to play Sin you could always
buy the Linux version.

Yeah when i bought Quake2 i was sad that hyperion didnt have any info or updates on their site , but i was wrong..
u have to go to the download area to find the updates of q2 and such.
Its beyond me why they havent put any Q2 info on their MAIN site (except for download area) but i guess they are too damn busy with os4 (which is good)

and yes Sin will come for A1 (release date when os4 comes , makes sense doesnt it?)

yeah, there was/is even Soldier of Fortune in the pipeline...

btw Raven (SoF) is planning to release PC OpenGL port of their 1992 Amiga RPG Black Crypt as a donationware.
